Great read

Any additional comments?

Bully Boy Blue by John Nicholl was a good read. Kathy's life has drastically changed due to her violent dominating husband. I enjoyed reading of Kathy's attempt to escape.

Excellent narration

In Bully Boy Blue, John Nicholl created a very believable villain who was extremely vile.
Michael, a respected policeman, has successfully alienated and isolated his wife Kathy from family, friends, and the public by making her reliant on him financially and convincing everybody that she is mentally unstable and receiving psychological treatment. Ever since their wedding night 3 years ago, he's been physically, emotionally and sexually abusing her, but now Kathy is determined to find a way out.
This was a short listen but it definitely packed an emotional punch. It's an intense story and the domestic abuse scenes are raw and unflinching.
A very good short story raising awareness of domestic abuse situations.

Jake Urry narrated this poignant story with the quality I have by now become accustomed to: individual voices for all the characters, the female ones are portrayed in a credible way, and emphasis, intonation and pacing are excellent as always.

A short story that sold me on this author!

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review .

I truly enjoyed this book. It was so well written that I actually got lost in the story. The story flowed well from start to finish and I couldn't stop listening until it was over!
Great psychological thriller that evoked strong emotions while listening . This story left me wanting more from this author. I will for sure seek out more books by John Nicholl. If you love James Patterson books, this one is up your alley.
The narrator did a fantastic job reading this one. He really portrayed each character ( male and female ) very well.

An all around winner of an audiobook !

Short story

I really like this writer. its I believe this in my second book I have read from hm. My favorite so far is the book called WHITE. this one was a short story about an abused wife, who was married to a jerk. He turned everyone she knew and loved against her. She finally gets smart, and get her last laugh.

Revenge Thriller

When I first started listen it reminded me of the movie Sleeping with the Enemy but this was so much more brutal and ingenious ending. Kathy married to her abusive police investigator husband Michael and lives in hell gets revenge. I have read all of this author’s books but this one was the best only complaint was too short. Great narration and recommend to anyone that need a short but great thriller. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. THANK YOU!

Tense and Desperate

This author created an alarmingly realistic and threatening sadist. Smooth and manipulative, the husband is truly menacing. "Pity" feels like the wrong word to use for a character as strong as his wife, but I think it applies here. You're rooting for poor Kathy's success from beginning to end. With anything this disturbing, violent, and evil though, even a best-case scenario doesn't feel like justice.

I'm glad the story wasn't longer because I don't know if my heart could take much more. I didn't feel triggered as such, but I could understand if others would be. Great job creating such a gripping story.

Wonderful narration also. His voice and tone kept me just as engaged as the story itself.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Intense, gripping, & unexpected!

This short story is written by an author whom is new to me. Typically I listen to romance books and mysteries, with some action adventure added in for change of pace. This book started out repulsing me with the domestic violence, then it became quite gripping. I thought the author did a great job in bringing to light some of the domestic violence problems. The narrator did a very good performance with his accents and emotions, and his sense of urgency. I loved the unexpected twists and turns this story had and the gumption of Kathy. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and or publisher. I would listen to more books by this author and narrator.

SO MUCH YES

Any additional comments?

This was an absolutely fantastic listen. That said, this was SO authentically written that the first bit of the book is pretty hard to listen to (if you're sensitive to domestic violence, this book probably isn't for you). "Billy Boy Blue" grabbed me right away and didn't release it's grip on me until the very end. I can't say more without giving away spoilers - all I will say is that the book had a satisfying ending that I wouldn't have changed a bit! Jake Urry is the best voice actor I've come across on Audible - I would recommend anything at all narrated by him. I would highly recommend this book to any friends that enjoy a mystery/thriller/suspense story. 10/10!

please don't buy if you are sensitive to abuse

I was gifted this audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author/narrator.
John Nicholl delivers a fantastic written book and plays with the mind and heart. Bully boy blue got exactly what he deserved for being a bully as well as a cop. A beautiful outcome to a mind/heart wrenching story.
Jake Urry made the words in this book flow so naturally.
If you love James Patterson books, this one is up your alley.  please don't buy if you are sensitive to abuse
