Slow to start, but 1000 xenos are dead before long

Very detailed look at the Iron Snakes chapter rituals, training and combat doctrine. Includes some large scale combat. Not my favorite space marine tale but it's a pretty satisfying ending.

For Ithaka!

Abnett is excellent as always and Longworth continues to bring the universe of 40k to life with his sonorous voice. A different feel to the Astartes, which was welcome and entertaining.

A 40k Fan’s dream

This book has it all! Interesting characters, a fun plot, action, astartes, and bolters.

I found myself living in the grimdark universe of 40k, but even in such a dark universe there is light. Mr. Abbot writes astartes, the space marines, very well. While the main character is compelling, his arc is not the most amazing, but he is an astartes, and he does learn lessons and improves.

All in all, if you’re a fan of the universe, like bolter porn, or are a newcomer, this is the book for you.

Amazing

Really neat characters and awesome battles. Will leave you wanting more. Shows a lot of day in the life type action for a chapter and how they conduct war in their own unique way.

Best space marine novel I have ever read.

great story, Abnett fleshed put the members of the iron snakes and made them feel alive and human. I have read several novels by different authors but this one stands out as by far the best written.

Not political

I don’t know/understand why that review was left. But they are incorrect and triggered. Read the book if you like a good story about space marines. Also LOL that we are all trashing that review.

Whats with all these MF snakes in this MF book!?!?

Sorry… couldn’t help the Samuel L. Jackson reference… anyways…

Dan Abnett never fails to deliver. And neither does Toby Longworth. Very entertaining stories about the Iron Snakes. I like how the book is broken up in segments and various battles as time progresses. You follow the protagonist as he matures as an Astartes and see how decision and actions of the past affect the future.

The Voice talent of Mr. Longworth is awesome. He is one of my favorites (if not THEE favorite) narrator for audiobooks. Clear and easy to listen too.

The combination of this author and this narrator made this book a win for me.

For Ithaka! For Damocles!

Dan Abnett wrote a good book that really outlines the inner brotherhood of a lesser known chapter in 40k. The Marines have good character and progression. Love Priad through the book, The Iron Snakes are not your average ultramarine successor chapter, they are heavily influenced by their home world of Ithaka and its culture. Read this for a breath of fresh air between required readings for your lore homework. Really good stuff here
