About this listen
On a rainy day in July 1999, 21 young people lost their lives in the infamous Saxetenbach Gorge Swiss Canyoning Disaster.
I should have been one of them.
The flash flood swept down the mountain with impossible force, sweeping the victims’ bodies miles downstream. It would take days to recover them all. Many were only identifiable from dental records.
But I survived.
I had begun my travels in search of adventure, only to find myself on the run from a toxic relationship. I escaped on a European tour where I began to put the missing puzzle pieces of myself back together and how to trust again, rebuilding my faith in love and friendship - only to be plunged into a world of new dangers by what happened in the gorge that fateful day.
From little girl lost to lioness.
I am "brave enough now".
Brave Enough Now is a gripping story of courage, survival, friendship, and transformation.
A true story of discovery, adventure, love and loss. Told through humour and raw honesty of the author’s account of her fear, survival and ultimately, her healing.
As featured on Sunrise Channel 7 “Swiss Canyoning Disaster: Australian Survivor Shares Harrowing Story, 20 years on”. Plus, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Herald Sun, The Daily Telegraph, 7 New, Channel 7 Sunrise, SBS, The World News, BLICK, ABC, SEN Radio, That’s Life magazine, plus many others globally.
The Swiss Canyoning Disaster made headlines across the world at the time of the disaster including THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE BBC, MULTIPLE EUROPEAN NEWS AGENCIES AND THROUGHOUT ASIA PACIFIC.
“How a lousy Little Creek Devoured Adventurers” The Age 30 July 1999.
This is my story.

Story
The grisly headline leaves nothing to the imagination: "Woman's torso recovered from Tokyo Bay. Believed to be missing British bartender Lily Bridges." The only suspect is Lucy Fly. Her friend is dead, her lover has disappeared, and as far as anyone is concerned, she's as good as guilty. Trapped in the interrogation room, Lucy begins to unravel two stories. One, for the police, is a spare outline, offering more questions than answers. The other - the real one, if you believe her - is a gripping dive into an obsessive mind, revealing the checkered past that brought her to Japan.

In 1935 a young Englishman named Laurie Lee arrived in Spain. He had never been overseas. His idea was to walk through the country, earning money for food by playing his violin in bars and plazas. Nearly a century later, the book Laurie Lee wrote - As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning - inspired Alastair Humphreys. It made him fall in love with Spain - the landscapes and the spirit - and with Laurie's style of travel. It’s 2006. After a string of rejections from men who tell her they could never, ever, ever see her “that way,” awkward third-grade teacher Micaela Blei signs up for a mysterious course called “The Divine Feminine,” and feels like she might have found the key to the perfect life. Turns out if you’re an A student, you can get an A in anything–including men. Pretty soon she’s learning to "conjure" her desires with vision boards, flirtations, and even a daring jumbotron viewing party for her, ahem ... "divine center."

On July 4, 2022, a shooter climbed onto a rooftop in Highland Park, Illinois, and opened fire on a Fourth of July parade below, killing seven people and wounding dozens more. Discovering yourself
Though being a man, I so mich resonate with Tiff with her story. However, she had a life discovering incident where she survived that I haven’t had (un)fortunately. But this book is a story of a girl grown into a woman and finding herself through the tough times of life. I feel that what an author from my state wrote, more you write Personal the more it becomes universal is so true. Thanks Tiffany for sharing your story. All the best wishes to you and hope to cross roads some time in our life!
