About this listen

The price of normalcy

Hoping to cure his curse and return to his fiancée, Jason Wolfe agrees to command a corporate monster-hunting unit. But the team isn’t exactly what he had in mind....

A priest, a ninja, a zombie, and a guy who looks like he should be working crew on the carny circuit. To be fair, not all of Jason’s new charges are keen on being trained by a werewolf.

But ready or not, the team has just been called to a job. Something is snatching children from a small town in southern Mexico. Worse, all signs point to vampires - and a darker, more malevolent force.

As evil grips the vulnerable town, Jason’s ability to lead and his Blue Wolf’s instincts to protect will be challenged like never before, especially as trouble looms back home.

Can he rally his misfit crew before the evil claims them? Or will his team’s first mission be its last?

A fantasy tale cast in modern-day time.

Well written and narrated Audible book book one was also very good. I fact because of these two Audible books, I now have all four releases.
Brad Magnarella has done outstanding job with this series and choosing James Patrick Cronin as narrator was perfect.

Great characters, horrible enemies!

paramilitaries, mexico, snarky, action-adventure, testosterone-fest, teamwork, urban-fantasy

The team of misfits who COULD shoot straight. Jason Wolfe is back and he is still under the curse that makes him a seven foot tall four hundred pound blue wolf, but now he's working for the mercs. Before he can even get his motley crew fully briefed and trained, they are rushed to a small village in Mexico to find and neutralize the monsters that are stealing children. Lots of twists and suspense, interpersonal "adjustments", lots of weaponry, conflict with the suits back at HQ, and even a consultation with mage Prof Croft. Great characters, horrible enemies, and some really intense suspense and action make this one classic Magnarella!
Not a series to be missed! Especially when narrated by James Patrick Cronin!

A very satisfying squeal

I really love the combination of fantasy and military genres that this series has. Book two is just as satisfying as book 1, but perhaps even better written IMO. It has a great mix of the serious BA main character, along with a set of teammates that I really enjoyed, especially one particularly comical one. overall, this story is the perfect mix of fantasy, military, and humor and left me wanting more. Definitely recommended.

Books I like: Name of the wind, anything by Sanderson, and epic fantasy in general. This book is a slight slight deviation, but still within the realm for sure.

A team of monster hunters lead by a werewolf

What a great series. Our hero is still the blue wolf and he has better come to terms with what he is and who that makes him. He has chosen to take up the offer to lead a team of monster hunters to make the world a better place and to eventually get himself cured. He finds himself paired with an old enemy and a group that isn’t what he thought it would be though it ends up being the perfect team for who they are and what they do. Great story, highly recommend reading the first book before this one as there are many things that will be lost to the reader. Enjoy it! Very Good

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and this one is just as good. Well written and likable characters with great narration.

Spot on continuation

As much as I would have loved to see Jason and Croft work together. Jason going down his own path has proven to be a good fit for his story.

My one complaint is that a large portion of the story is driven from continuous assumptions. which is a little annoying, since you would think the team would learn their lesson on that.

Just as good if not better than the first.

I could not stop listening to this. I was drawn in immediately by the reader. I'm so happy James had done this one as well. The Blue Wolf series is quickly becoming my new favorite.

The Blue Wolf is the MAN! ... Er, I mean WOLF!!!

The Blue Wolf and his questionable pack of misfits steps up and come together (mostly) to harden into a unit, save the helpless, and learn something to boot!

It was good to see Prof Croft lend a hand briefly. I'm always up for some of that!

I dare you to take a listen and just TRY to stop for little unimportant things like dinner or getting out of the car to go in the house. (My wife has taken to calling me "Garage Dweller")

I can't wait for the Audible version of the new Prof Croft book to become available. (Maybe I can get my wife to bring dinner to me in the car so I can just keep listening!)
