About this listen

Bite first, ask questions later: Samantha's on the case!".

Detective Samantha Nightshade's life takes a turn for the supernatural when her boyfriend Damon reveals his true nature—by turning her into a vampire. But the undead don't get sick days, and Samantha is thrust into a high-profile murder case the very next morning.

Art collector Albert Rothschild is found dead in a gallery, drained of blood with telltale fang marks on his neck. As Samantha investigates, she must navigate her new nocturnal nature while keeping her partner in the dark. With each clue, she's drawn deeper into a shadowy world where art, murder, and vampires collide.

Can Samantha crack the case before her dual identities unravel? Or will her newfound thirst for blood compromise everything she's sworn to protect? In this witty, fast-paced supernatural thriller, Samantha must solve the murder, master her vampiric powers, and save humanity—all before the next full moon rises.

Bloodstone is a deliciously dark and humorous tale that proves sometimes the best detectives have a little bite to their bark.

Delightful!

Ash Aarrestad did a wonderful job narrating this fun vampire detective novel. Her vocal characterizations were varied and delightful, especially that of Victor. I had read the book prior to listening to this audiobook and was able to glean even more from the storyline as I listened to Ms. Aarrestad narrate. Cheri Myst did a great job writing her book, and Ms. Aarrestad brought it life (or undead as Samantha Nightshade might say) with her narration.

Quirky, Paranormal Mystery!

This is a fun, quirky mystery with a helping of humor, and a pinch (or two) of paranormal!
Samantha Nightshade is a newly turned vampire thrust into the fun world of vampire politics, while also trying to solve a crime that looks suspiciously like a vampire did it. She manages to keep her sarcastic personality and witty remarks even with her new aversion to light.
The story is pretty fast paced, and I'd have liked if it went into a little more detail because somethings are glossed over more. Though, this is a short story/novella, so it makes sense that things would be quick. But I do look forward to learning more about the paranormal world the author created in future books.

This is a quick story (even faster if you listen at 1.15x speed) with a good narrator. The narrator is new-to-me, and I hope she gets to narrate the rest of the series!
