Juliet and Romeo

Juliet is a vampire looking for her next victim! She goes to the cage fight..There she sees Romeo, oh so handsome. She has her eyes on him. But hes not just an MMA fighter, he actually is Ares, the Greek God of War. This story has paranormal mixed with some Greek mythology. it's different from what I read and listen to. It was entertaining.
Claire Joseph narration was good.

Gods and Vampires

I'm a huge fan paranormal romance and greek mythology so I was intrigued by the concept of this book and the relationship between a god and a vampire. For such a short book, we are introduced to many supporting characters which hopefully we get to learn more about in the next books but found myself wanting more story. action and background on the Juliet and Ares.

I has some issues with the quality of the audio, at some parts it sounds like the narrator is talking in a cave and there was little variation in her voice between characters. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

I struggled to finish it.

A romance about the Greek god Ares and a semi-moral vampire lady would seem to provide fertile ground for an exciting paranormal romance, but I was pretty disappointed. While the love scenes were well written, most other aspects of the story could have been better. While I liked the vampire heroine Juliet a little bit, the dialogue and pacing were weak. I also found it hard to believe that such an egotistical, arrogant, emotionally immature god like this Ares character would be capable of falling in love. His character development was weak and inadequate.

The audiobook quality was furthermore dragged down by the subpar narration by Claire Joseph, who read so slowly that I had to increase my listening speed to 1.4x. The narrator also made the voice of Ares the same pitch as that of Juliet and made him sound like a petulant 14-year-old boy. A deeper, more assertive voice would have made the narration much better.

Thankfully, the plot got more exciting at the end, so this audiobook barely got 3 stars from me. The characters Artemis and Pan livened up the story, and I wish they had had larger roles.

I requested and received a free audiobook copy via #AudiobookObsession, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Ares Meets His Match Outside of the Ring

When I read the title with "DC" in it, I immediately thought of the superhero comics, but as it turns out, there are Greek gods roaming around in Washington, DC! Call it kismet, or serendipity, or fate, but "Romeo Lynch" meets his Juliet in the form of a vampire. They both crave each other instantly, and soon, the whole (dysfunctional) Olympus family gets wind of this. How is it that I find the relationship woes of the Greek god of war so relatable?! I rarely see a story that focuses on Ares as the main character; he's usually in the background while Apollo is living it up in the spotlight. I found myself rooting for this unconventional couple, even if everyone else seems to disapprove of them. In fact, they all seem hell-bent on having Juliet killed! Not to mention there's some pathetic dude on a power-trip out hunting her for the past half-decade. The poor girl doesn't even deserve it because she was tricked into the life of blood lust, then abused and abandoned by her former lover.

What's surprising about this book was how tender Ares was to Juliet. He's developed a softer side around her. I liked the side characters too, especially Pan. I was so amused when he found the energy to laugh at Ares' expense while in such a weak state. Since this is a series, I wonder whose story it will be in the next book. Also, as if the sample was not obvious enough, things get super steamy🔥 from the start, so you've been warned. I enjoyed everything about this story. Unfortunately, there were a couple issues with the audio: 1) certain parts seemed muffled or distorted and 2) the narrator sounded really new, like this was her first audio book recording. If Claire is performing the rest of the series, hopefully she will improve as time goes on. I wasn't annoyed with her voice at all (there's plenty of narrators who I skip just after a few seconds of the sample) so that's a bonus. If you're in the mood for some hot greek mythological paranormal action, then this one's for you. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
