About this listen

Book 7 (of 9) in the best-selling, multi-award-winning Beyond series.

Adrian Maddox fled his royal life - and tragic past - in Sector One, choosing instead to join up with the O’Kanes. For years, he’s lived by one rule: love fast, love hard, and always be willing to walk away. He’s managed to guard his heart, keep it whole and untouched - until now.

They couldn’t be more different - Dylan, the brilliant, burned-out doctor from Eden who drowns his pain with drugs and self-destruction. Scarlet, the sensuous, sexy rocker from Three, a woman unafraid to embrace the world. And Jade, the whore turned spy from Sector Two, who battled addiction and came out stronger than anyone he’s ever met.

Separately, they make Mad long to open his heart, to tumble head-first into a sea of possibilities and wild love. Together, they make him burn, inside and out, with lust and unbearable, unimaginable pleasure.

Then one fateful moment shakes their world to its foundations - and leaves the sectors on the verge of all-out war with Eden. It’s the biggest fight the O’Kanes have ever faced, and Mad and his lovers are at the dead center of it. They could end up with everything they never knew they wanted - or lose it all. Including their lives.

The Beyond series is dystopian erotic romance. While the books explore kink and sex with multiple partners in a dark and decadent world, all sex between characters is 100 percent consensual.

The sex to story ratio finally balances

Kind of ironic that, with the biggest romantic group yet, the four-way love story (and sex) gives room for the series arc about the sectors versus Eden to finally become a plot with meat on the bones.

True, the villains in Eden are still faceless, leaving me still wanting on the urban fantasy end.
And, the romance is still the main point of the series, so much so that the previous couples remain in cameo territory and more screen time is given to setting up future romances (Hawk and Jenni’s in particular is set up for the next book). But there’s actual strategies between the sectors, action and plots beyond just relationships in the apocalypse, and visible movement towards a series conclusion.

I need to give props to the new narrator. Coming in this late into a series is hard, and with number of characters and the MMFF romance in this book, I was very impressed with Ms. Estrella’s ability to differentiate voices. I’m not sure whether it’s her narration, my being worn down by the size and scope of sex in the series, or my excitement at finally having the urban fantasy story materialize, but I did find myself glazing over at the blah, blah, blah kinky kink kink, and even fast forwarding through the normally smutalicious parts.

Narrator Change

She does an ok job but I am so used to Lucy Malone it has been distracting....
I bought the book on kindle first as it took so long to come out on audio so didn't notice the narrator change till I re-listened to all the books again...
Not un-listenable just different..

This narrator is awful

The narrator absolutely ruined listening to the book. I gave up and will just read it instead. It sounds like AI reading it, the inflections are so odd and the character voices are terrible.

Better and better

These stories started off as mostly sex and relationships. Now the back story is so intense I find myself skipping over the sexy bits to get back to the war going on. If you haven’t read them all start at the beginning. I’ve become so invested in these characters! I wish the story didn’t have to end in the next two books.
