About this listen

An age-gap, billionaire romance where secrets and revenge are embraced in a dangerous tango…

It began with lies. So many lies. I was born unwanted. In pain. Addicted. A crack baby.

I was given a second chance, but I want a third. A fresh start—out from under my parents’ control. I was on my way to building my new life when my neighbor crashed into it, wrecking all my plans.

Heir to his family fortune, Henry Ward III, returned to Texas with a plan of his own. With burdens as heavy as my own secrets, he needed a distraction.

And with a man like him—who could own the boardroom and my body with one gruff gaze from his intense dark eyes—I was down for a distraction too.

Little did we know, his burdens and my secrets are so heavily entwined, there’s no way to untangle them.

I’m a Montgomery. He’s a Ward. We might as well be the Capulets and Montagues. Our connection is that rife with drama. That forbidden. That dangerous.

When the past repeats itself, a distraction is the last thing we need. We need a lifeline as much as we need each other. The vicious cycle has to stop.

It’s life and death.

Loved it

It was billed as an age gap but wasn’t quite what I would consider that but the story was well written and loved how it brought the series all togethrr

Single Guardian, Neighbors, Romantic Suspense

4.5 Stars

Another hit from The Montgomerys series. Henry and Quinn were perfect for each other, and the addition of Henry's niece, Nora, was perfect. I loved how everything about this story played out, and I loved getting to see everyone from the previous two books. It's always fun to catch little glimpses of the couples from previous books and this one was no exception.

I liked the way Henry and Quinn met and then just kept running into each other. I also loved how it all started out as the two of them being a "distraction" for the other, but almost immediately turned into more. The way the relationship developed between them worked so well for this story and these characters. I loved how the two of them cared for and supported the other. I loved the mystery/suspense subplot of this one, because I did keep changing my mind of what was going one.

There is definitely some really heavy and sensitive subject matter discussed in this book. It's predominantly all around one of the side characters in this story, but it is an important part of the story as a whole. While nothing is very descriptive, there are still multiple discussions around everything. I think it was all handled really well, but is definitely something for anyone to look into if they have any triggers.

Love The Montgomery Series!

Did not want this series to end. Going back to book one to relive it again. Seriously, excellent stories by Brynne Asher. Captivating acting by narrators Lidia Dornet and Stephen Dexter. Mystery, suspense, action, romance, compassion, this heartfelt series has every quality necessary to captivate throughout each listening hour.

Eye opening

Amazingly written eye opening on addiction and sexual assault and effects of what can happen to a person who is groomed at such a young age and the amazing strength of the human mind when the support of family friends are with you.

Awesome Series!

I loved everything about this book. It brought laughter and tears. And the warm fuzzies. Quinn and Henry stepped up and in the end received many blessings. It wasn’t an easy journey but heartwarming in the end. Great story!!

So so good

Again I was worried because the book was so long but wow I loved every minute of it. The first few chapters were a bit slow but it gave a chance for good character development. It had little angst between the lovers and that suited me fine. They were super reasonable people and that was refreshing too. But my favorite part of all was the epilogue. I love it when we knows where their lives go. It was just so so good.

Family drama & secrets

Loved Quinn & Henry and how they met and overcome the drama from both sides of their family. Nora was such a cute kid and definitely a handful, made Quinn and Henry learn to be parents quickly. This whole series I enjoyed immensely and narrators made it engaging.

Have you ever wanted a trilogy not to end?

I wanted quite a while for books two and three. It was worth it.
I will be giving this trilogy as Christmas presents to a few friends.
Laughs and tears and a great story.

INCREDIBLE ❤️❤️❤️

I fell in love with Brynne Asher’s Killers series and doubted how she could ever match it but she did! The Montgomery trilogy is along the same vein with perfect character and world building along with suspense, mystery, and twists to keep you guessing until the very end. And, like her other books, the main couple have a beautiful relationship built on each other’s strengths, mutual respect, love, passion and steamy sexy times.

Lidia and Steven were perfection. Their characters enveloped every accent, inflection, personality and emotion to bring them vividly to life.
