I'm not a true follower of The Order of the Greater Beings. I don't worship the demiurgus—the monstrous species that live alongside humans. I definitely do not want to become a demiurgus mate.

So when one shows up at the cult's compound—the first in the entire twenty-five years I've been flying under the radar here—I want to make sure he knows that I think he's a total creep for taking advantage of worryingly adoring humans this way.

Until I realize… I don't think that's why he's here. He's kind of awkward. And anxious. And wildly out of his depth. When he offers me the chance to finally escape the cult—to go out into the real world for the first time, to create a life for myself—all for the low, low cost of an easy, platonic friendship… I take it.

Now, I'm navigating the outside world, and I'm roommates with a big, awkward demiurgus called Greid who lives in his pajamas, watches a ridiculous amount of TV, and is high most of the time. He's also the sweetest guy I've ever met, and he's funny, and generous, and easy to talk to.

But I've spent my entire life making sure I didn't get sucked into the cult's fervent worship of the demiurgus—there's no way I'm going to fall in love with him... Right?

I’m a huge Lily Mayne fan! I enjoyed the story but kind of skimmed through parts of it unfortunately. I can’t wait to read the next book with his brother.

the story it great.

the readers did a decent job it just seemed like the two artists were reading different books at times. I loved the story and most of the characters lol that brother of greens irritated me
but I still hands down loved their dynamic. I don't usually read where the male is a sub and the woman a Dom. it was very kinky I didn't hate it lol! 10/10

Spicy and adorable

So much to like, very different from the rest and yet the characters and scenes were not overly complicated. I think they could use a sequel, do they have life together? I’d love to hear it

eh, not what I was looking for

I still gave it 4 stars don't come for me. I can do soft and squishy, really I can. BUT this just isn't a scenario/dynamic I could get behind. He paused a sexual encounter to smoke alien weed? seriously?! he's a stoner, and everything is wrong with him and she's okay with anything and everything? I just CAN'T do it. Why even describe him as big and bad if he's absolutely useless and a pushover? I don't even care that he's submissive and she's a dom, he's just an incompetent child and I just couldn't. Sorry if this is a 'me' thing. Audible did me dirty by suggesting this to me, it knows what I like and this is not it. (insert side eye) Also WHY GIVE THE BOOK TWO NARRATORS IF YOU'RE STILL GOING TO HAVE THE GIRL DOING MALE VOICES AND VICE VERSA. Like why bother?! If I've got to hear a female struggle through stoner bob here for 30 minutes straight why even bring in the male narrator? is it meant to be relief from the other narrator? That's all it is..until the male narrator starts fighting for his life through female character voices. It's 2024, we can and should do better.

I absolutely love this book

I read the book previously so this was an instant buy for me when it came to Audible. I was a bit concerned about the male narrator's voice acting for Greid at first and then was like - yep this is perfect, this character is a stoner and very awkward so it fits perfectly. After that, I was all in on the narration.

This is a story of acceptance and understanding. It will definitely make you laugh and maybe even cry a little. It is sweet and for it being sci-fi/paranormal, it is very much based in the reality of daily life. This was my first book by Lily Mayne that I was willing to pick up because I'm not a big fan of dark romances which her other popular series is for sure. So if you are on the fence, know that this is low drama, M/F, with a solid HEA.

The second book in this series is already available on Kindle and I think it is just as good, if not better, than this one. It too will be on my immediate purchase list as soon as it hits Audible.

Great blend of sweet and spicy! Unique storyline, loveable characters, fun banter, and interesting spice.

The cinnamon rolliest himbo

Greid is possibly the sweetest cinnamon roll I have ever read in a book. And it made for the sweetest story. The whole thing was perfect and I could have listened to more of this couple. When I first heard the male narrator I was like no way this is what he’s doing. But within minutes I realized it was actually perfect. I loved every second. Can’t wait for the second audio book!

This BOOK. Hilarious, sweet, and sexy! The narrators both did a great job! I just wish I could listen to it over and over again!
