Story
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.

very informative
After listening to this audiobook, I found in my mature self that im old school. I want that job where you stay until you retire. I need to get back to the mind set of my younger, responsibilty-less self. The book also had some great questions to ask in interviews.

Self help book
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
“Becoming Generation Flux” is a good analysis of how education, the workplace and career management are becoming unpredictable. The increasing costs of education and its impact on graduates to how one can no longer count on steady employment with one organization throughout a career, it is clear Miles Smith understands the changing career landscape.This audiobook Iis good for those just beginning to look at a career path and educational choices ;

Outstanding Book!!!!
The author, Mr. Smith has done an exceptional job at informing anyone, how to endure the stresses and adapt to a non-traditional career plan. I learned many things that were helpful in getting my new career plan in order. I enjoyed this book, because it was well written and straight forward. It also established that the author is dedicated to assisting recent grads or those in search of a new career path. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling to get ahead in today's "workforce".

Good book for high school seniors
I thought this book would have lots of tips for getting ahead at work and advancing your career. It was more of a summary of the recent changes to the economy, education, and job markets. I would have liked more tips for those already happily employed who are looking to get promoted.
I liked all the research that the author did, but the presentation could have been a little less dry, and a little more compelling.
This would be a good book for high school seniors who wanted to become better informed about what they were going to face in college and then later in the job market. This is not such a great book for those who already graduated college and found a job - they already know what the job market is like.

This is one of the best audio book!!!
Where does Becoming Generation Flux rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I would rate it my top 3 because they way things are explained in this audio book is very well done. The speaker talks in a pace so that everyone can hear and grasp the information being given.
What other book might you compare Becoming Generation Flux to and why?
"Get The Job You Want, Even When No One's Hiring: Take Charge of Your Career, Find a Job You Love, and Earn What You Deserve" by Ford Myers because both books tells you what is going on in the economy and how you can do things differently to obtain the job you want.
What does Miles Anthony Smith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
A slow pace reading and stopping where they may be a punctual mark. Also reading it so that I don't get bored just stirring at the words myself. His voice alone is very impressive and makes me want to listen.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did have extreme reaction to this book because I was surprised of what was said. I learned new things about the economy and types of jobs they are out there. It did not make me laugh or cry because this is just not that type of book. More of an informative one.
Any additional comments?
Great Job, I hope fore more informative books about careers and the economy just like this one. Job well done!

Hired - Fired - Hired Again. Why?
What made the experience of listening to Becoming Generation Flux the most enjoyable?
Its relevance. -- In the last two years I have been downsized, hired, fired, and ultimately self employed. Then I subsequently hired and fired someone else! The entire business landscape is in a time of flux. This book was spot on with my experiences, but showed that if we navigate properly, we can prosper.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Becoming Generation Flux?
Some of the most memorable moments centered around the feeling of, "OH! So I'm not crazy!" When a career takes a hard left turn, it is easy to feel alone. Well, apparently I'm not! The crazy is normal.
Have you listened to any of Miles Anthony Smith’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I listened to Miles' "Leadership Sucks" book when it came out. This book resonated more strongly with me because of where I am in life, but I also think it is better written and better narrated.
Any additional comments?
Miles is a knowledgable author who speaks from experience as well as research. He helped me get my brain around the changeless I just lived through. Now I am more prepared.
