The year is 3030. For the past 300 years, since the Star League collapse and the rise of the Five Successor States, these mortal enemies have fought over space, land, and politics. But a new threat looms just outside the Inner Sphere. The descendants of an old Star League general, the Clans, bred to be the best military force humanity has ever seen, have come to take what they believe is rightfully theirs.Don't miss the rest of Battletech. Wish it was the whole book.

To much lost in the abridgement, and the theme music is absolutely dreadful. Please release this unabridged.

Great Book but abridged

Great Battletech story but would prefer an unabridged version. It helps if you know battletech lore since the abridged version skips a lot of key points.

the perfect intro to the world of mechs

it's cheesy, melodramatic, and metal. the acting and sound effects are so low quality that it's good! this book is all killer no filler.

Meh!

The characters are not very deep. The story is fragmented as a result of the subject spanning am entire galaxy, and the recording is constantly using odd sound effects and cheesey '80 synth between scenes.

All taken together it adds up to a mediocre story. Probably won't bother with the two subsequent novels in this trilogy.

Unabridged

I wish that they works have taken this great event in battletech lore and made it a fully unabridged version.

Battletech

if you know anything about battletech it's kinda like game of thrones in space and not as intense or as well-written. that's not to say it isn't good. the audio book is amazing in that it includes sounds and atmospheric enhancements that really enrich the story.

Bad Sound effect.

The sound effects used during the telling of the story were overly loud and incongruent with what the narrator was saying. Instead of enhancing, the sound effects and music were jarring and took me out of the storyline.

Great quick listen!

Only reason it isnt five stars is I occasionally got lost with characters and who is who? otherwise its a great performance by the teller.
