Almost as good as being there...

I never got to see this play live. This is the next best thing. I'm very glad I purchased this title. The story is compelling and very well written. I've read plays before, but this stars the original Tony award winning cast. Great way to spend 3 hours. Listening to a little bit of culture.

Wrenching

Superbly done but hold on to your heart. It will take you to your emotional limits. I endured it for the sake of art.

Almost as good as being there!

Love this show, love the cast, love the recording. You can't beat the Steppenwolf crew and Letts is such a damn good playwright!

Heart breaking black humor

What did you love best about August: Osage County?

If you think your family is dysfunctional this one will really make you think THRICE

What did you like best about this story?

It was a play, and each character was played by a different person. All done very well

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No never heard any of these persons preform before.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was hard not to have extreme reactions to this family. The heartbreak and snarky humor really floored me

Any additional comments?

This was a stage play that was recorded. It was done to perfection. I could picture what was happening and the anguish these people were feeling. In the end it was a gut wrenching story. .

Amazing story!

This emotional interplay of family relationships and the role of grace and forgiveness kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the performance.

I never need to hear this again!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

No.

Has August: Osage County turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. I have no idea what the play was meant to be about or what the point was.

Which scene was your favorite?

I can safely say there's not one part of that play that I ever need to hear again.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

It is a movie and I plan to never see it. I just didn't get it..

Any additional comments?

This was a beautifully performed play about a lot of miserable people getting together to make each other more miserable which, in turn, may me miserable listening to it. I stuck it out thinking that there would be some point to all this misery. If there was one, I missed it altogether.

Loved the @&$?ing story

This is a gripping story of real world, real family dynamics enhanced by the ensemble cast format. The story encompasses circumstances that most of us who don't live in a make believe world can relate too. The dialogue supports the story that is being told with @&$?ing realism and conversational accuracy.
