Great! What I've come to expect.

If you've read the 1st 2 books, you know what to expect.
This is just a continuation of an amazing story.
The war that has been promised is here, and the MC and his realm are conscripted into it.
Will our MC learn to hate or love war? Or maybe something in-between?
The writing and narration are great.
I love how the author doesn't go into minute details in the big battles and adds story during. I get so bored when it's slice this and parry that for multiple chapters.
I am surprised that the goblins and orcs and dwarves and others weren't mentioned more during the battles. Without the miniscule mention about them, I would have never known they were even involved.
I was gifted this book with the expectation of an honest review.
I give this book 6 out of 5 stars.

The truth of war…

This one was heck of a doozy. Caldor, our MC, is forced to commit and fulfill his duties. It brings him crashing into the reality the price that is paid during war. And that price is people’s lives. Sure, he grows stronger and becomes a greater fighter… but what of the cost…? He and his friends have dealt with riggers, pain and suffering that comes with being an adventurer. Taking it to monsters and standing in front those weaker… but what happens when those they stand against are people…? What should Caldor, as a leader, decide when not only his people but possibly innocent lives are caught up in a war they didn’t want…?
Dark days for our young hero in this installment. McGowen does a great job in this one with the riggers of not only war, but conflict with the scope and potential of people and devices of magic.
Our narrators also do an amazing job at not just reading a book to us… they perform phenomenally as they breath life into the characters and the narrative! I felt what the characters did. They drag you in and the world around you shifts. Sometimes it is even a little too well done with the emotional lows… The narrators are definitely good at what they do!

I am thankful to Royal Guard for the review copy of this book and hope to get the next once it comes through!

Well, that was unexpected.

This book reminds me of my least favorite book in The Wheel of Time series, Path of Daggers. This is the book where the tone of the mc changed from a young adult trying to be the man he wants to be, to a man excepting who he is when the rose-tinted glasses come off. That's kind of what happens in this book. War changes you. Fighting to stay alive and keep your people alive changes you. That's when you realize how everybody else's politics effect your fights and your ability to keep people safe.

I said that Path of Daggers was my least favorite book in that series. The other side of that statement is that it's a VERY important book in that series. This is where the tone of Arcane Knight changes. This is where his decisions have led him. This is where politics has led him. This is where prices are paid, and lives are in the balance. This is where the story gets really good. I'm excited for the next book to see where this leads and how Caldor has grown from it. What kind of Order will he be able to salvage from all this Chaos?

Thank you, Ronnie Rowlands and Tiffany Suzuki, for the incredible job you did on the audiobook. I might have had a different opinion about this volume without your talents. This is a must have if you're a fan of the series.

Great Series Continuation

This was a great series filler and story telling book. This for me, means that it progressed the story and helped to give direction for the next book. The story keeps getting better in my opinion and I cant wait for the next book to be released.

I thought the narration for this book was great. Ronnie Rowlands and Tiffany Suzuki continue to give a great performance.
