About this listen

This woman had carved her name in my heart long ago and I still bled from that open wound.

She was my curse and I wanted to be free.

Orphaned at a young age, Samara has been left under the care of her three horrible brothers for many long years. But just when she thinks she cannot take another day of their abuse, a handsome prince offers for her hand in marriage.

Samara's brothers agree to the wedding in exchange for a large dowry, but on her way to salvation in her new kingdom, her carriage is ambushed and she is rescued by Lore, the wicked Prince of Nightshade, who demands a favor in return. Samara believes that Lore's request is meant to punish her for her crimes against his kind . . . but punishment is only half of Lore's plan.

The truth is that the Elven Prince has pined after Samara for seven long years. His power over poisons rivals none in the Enchanted Forest, but Samara is a new kind of toxin in his blood, and all he can think about. Can the Prince of Nightshade manage to find a remedy, or will he succumb to her love?

Contains mature themes.

Good stand alone

Loved the story and how it’s a stand alone but incorporates the other stories. The ending was underwhelming, and very abrupt. It left me with questions!! I think the ending could have had more detail and explanations linking the beginning of the story and middle parts. Overall another good book by Scarlett St Clair

Five Stars. Five. Freaking. Amazing. Stars.

Five Stars. Five. Freaking. Amazing. Stars.

Listen Scarlett St. Clair is an automatic read for me. I love her. Even when I'm mad at her, I love her!

Poor Samara is stuck with her 3 POS brothers. They abuse her physically and mentally and they're trash. They help feed the town though so she feels like she needs to put up with their abuse to save everyone else from starving.

Lore is a doofus. An adorably obtuse, silly pants, doofus. Lore is sure he is cursed and the only one who can save him is Samara, the one he believes he is cursed to love. The one who relieved him of his hand when he thought they were in love and she betrayed him.

Now they're on an adventure together to find the golden apple so she can wish for the curse to be removed from him. This made easier because she doesn't seem to recognize him.

I loved this book. I love Samara and I love Lore and I love the Fox. Reading this made me want to reread Mountains Made of Glass. Or just reread all of my Scarlett St. Clair books.

Golden Apple

🎧Audiobook Review🎧
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Victoria and Liam are amazing narrators for this story!! I love anything Scarlett writes and this fairy tale retelling is a new fave!
Samara lives with her 3 horrible brothers and Lore is a sweet man that needs her help to remove this curse so he can love again. Specifically to love Samara, again!! First they need to find the golden apple to break this curse!

Not a huge fan

I think Scarlett is a great writer but her best work was clearly the Hades and Persephone series. This one felt a bit lazy.

Boring story and audio, male narrator was terrible.

The worst book Scarlett has written so far which is disappointing because I loved the hades and Persephone series along with a king of battle and blood. Love those books but I very much disliked the fairytail retellings she has been writing so far, very boring. The male narrator did a terrible job.
