Acerca de esta escucha

At the end of the world, a groundbreaking scientific experiment will change everything.

Dr. Laura Reynolds had it all. A job she loved. The respect of her peers. Student debt she was slowly chipping away at.

And one day, it all went away.

She saw the wrong thing—a colleague's mistake. And to escape, he framed her.

Laura's only option is to join a secretive research project in Antarctica, where she hopes to keep practicing medicine and one day get her life back. But soon after arriving, she realizes that things aren't what they seem in this advanced facility.

And perhaps something strange is happening in the world outside.

Welcome to Antarctica Station, A.G. Riddle's first new sci-fi thriller in almost a year. It's a deep dive into the science and history of Antarctica—with a twist few will see coming.

I usually like A.G.’s books a bit more. This started off really interestingly, but kind of wrapped up in an unsatisfying way. Not bad, just somewhat formulaic and not really that innovative.

Good listen, OK book

I like A.G.’s stuff normally, but there was too much time spent on the middle part of the story, and not enough on the final chapters. Could have built things up more

Nice story twist

I liked the characters but much of the storyline was just implausible. Performance was great. Not my favorite A.G. riddle book.

Ok, But Lots of Plot Holes

This book started off with a lot of promise and really caught my interest, but once the big reveal of what was going on occurred, the middle part drug on forever and forever and was quite boring. Such a disappointment after all the great scientific imagination in the beginning. The ending chapters needed to be expanded on as well, but were rushed to a closing.

More Science Needed Overall and Less Rambling in the Middle

The beginning had a bit too much character development to get the story to the science fiction part. There could have been a greater amount of detail concerning the sciences and the apocalyptic aspects. The story wrapped up super conveniently, almost to the point of being contrived. I still enjoyed it and would recommend it.

over and under

Great narration. Mediocre story with characters doing non-credible things. Not so bad I want to return but won’t listen again.

Pretty ho-hum, poor characterisation

This was a quick storyline with great character development. The story was engaging. You won’t be disappointed.

Classic Riddle!

I liked the strong female character Laura. She was kind, true and loyal. But strong in character and only wanted to help this world heal

I'm a huge fan of AG Riddle, I've read nearly all of his works so far, but this story was a bit disappointing. There are major plot elements at several points in the narrative that seem necessary for the protagonist to address and she doesn't. even if it's only to explain why that element isn't helpful, it's necessary to maintain a sense of realism and grounding.

imagine wolverine learning he has cancer and never asking why his healing factor isn't curing it. it would make no sense because it's important information that character is aware of and it's integral to their survival. there are a number of other issues with the main character that are of a similar nature, where obvious issues seem ignored because the plot demands it, or she just never considers something that a person in that situation should. it just feels off from his other work in a significant way.

when you look past that issue, the rest of the book is enjoyable, it's the sort of thriller AG Riddle likes to write and I'm here for it. but it's also a book where I looked down and saw there was only and hour left to somehow save the world and was shocked this wasn't part 1 in a series. I would have preferred he ended it an hour earlier at a specific cliffhanger and then expanded the story to another book.

either way, I'm happy he wrote something and that I got to read it.

a simple sci-fi thriller hindered by narrative foreclosure and a rushed 3rd act.
