About this listen

Never did Sabina Burrell imagine that foiling a plot against her sister would lead to her having to wed the arrogant Sir Jeffree de Crecy. She has never met such a loathsome man, and that included her late husband.

Proud Sir Jeffree, raised in the expectation of succeeding to his uncle’s title, is appalled to become ensnared in a scheme to discredit his uncle’s intended bride. The whole thing is beneath his dignity, as is the shameless young widow who denounces him in front of everyone and makes him look a fool!

Jeffree will do anything to salvage his honour, even if it means wedding a woman he despises. Revenge will be sweet indeed, ensuring Sabina pays for what she did. What he does not anticipate, is that his own long-prized vow of chastity will be so very sorely tried….

An Inconvenient Vow
is a stand-alone novel of over 148,000 words and is set in a medieval style landscape in the fictional kingdom of Karadok. Please do not purchase if you are offended by strong language and/or sex scenes.

A winner

I was curious how Alice Coldbreath would write this story. It was wonderful. Grateful Anne Flosnik read the story. She does a marvelous job and I am used to all the voices from returning characters.

So Good

I enjoyed this immensely. Its Jane Austen reminiscent but with spice. So incredibly satisfied!

FUNNY

Strong start, but weak finish. The epilogue was more of a last chapter than a comment.
The heroine became very whiny in the last few chapters… can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Alice Coldbreath is one of my favorite authors, and Anne Flosnik is indispensable in this series. Absolutely an incredible narrator.

Not as good as the others

I’ve gotten used to the narrator, even though some female voices drive me crazy. Overall this was a good book, I just didn’t really like the lead character. Sabina has some strange notions in her head and it felt like she was her biggest enemy for most of the book. It wasn’t really until chapter 24 that I started to like her. Jeffery was also hard to like, but at least he was consistent in his thinking and personality throughout the book. There was never any façade with him. the intimate scenes were a struggle in the beginning as Jeffery was a complete novice. They definitely got better, but I really didn’t like them through Sabines perspective. I won’t be listening to it again, but I don’t regret listening to it in the first place.

Interesting turn of events

Quite unexpected storyline. Very well written, and nicely performed. I look forward to the next installment in this series.

Jeffrey deserves better imo

Jeffrey is such a sweetie and I feel so bad for this poor man! If anyone deserves a grand declaration of love it’s this man. Despite Sabina as a whole, I still enjoyed this story and the series overall. Cannot go wrong with AC but this is not her best.

Oh Sabina.

I’ve seen authors attempt this almost ptsd-like mentality and it can be repetitive and drag the story. This is not that. Sabina’s character is very well written in the way that it’s not her constantly thinking the same ‘I’m unworthy’ thought more than she thinks it once or so and her actions support it. But girl! It was like experiencing someone running a race in mud. She needed a therapist. It’s not my favorite FMC from AC, but Alice owes me nothing. I will still listen over and over again.
