In this book, I am going to show you essential lifesaving strategies that will serve you in times of need. While this book is geared toward maximum survival needs which would have you living in the woods for an extended period of time, it is useful for all emergencies. Being prepared can be the difference between life or death in many circumstances, even during at-home emergencies we may face. Having the knowledge you need to survive even the most dire emergencies means that you will have the knowledge and confidence you need to survive much smaller emergencies, too.

Story
On a beautiful summer afternoon in 1998, Dan Stephens, a 22-year-old canoeist, was leading a trip deep into Ontario's Quetico Provincial Park. He stepped into a gap among cedar trees to look for the next portage - and did not return. More than four hours later, Dan awakened from a fall with a lump on his head and stumbled deeper into the woods, confused. Three years later, Jason Rasmussen, a third-year medical student who loved the forest's solitude, walked alone into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on a crisp fall day.

Good basic overview
This book gives an idea of what you need to know to survive in the wild. The details that are given are valuable, such as the procedure for testing out whether wild plants are edible or not, various methods for building a fire, and the most popular ways of gathering water. The narrator's voice was very pleasant to listen to, also.

Alone In the Wild
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Focus on a being lost scenario and not drifting off topic. ( Like perhaps a 72 hour lost hunter.)
Would you ever listen to anything by Marcus Duke again?
No
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kevin Pierce?
Kevin Pierce does just fine.
What character would you cut from Alone in the Wild?
There are no characters.
Any additional comments?
I think Marcus needs more dirt time.
