Good story!

Some parts were kind of slow.
However I liked the book as a whole and found myself "talking" to the characters about the way they were acting. I would recommend the book.

This book had everything I’ve been looking for in a the genre. It was so sad . I was sad when it was over it was so good.

As someone who is originally from Appalachia I loved hearing these words spoken in that dialect. I felt my grandmothers’ voices in the story.

I loved this book and the reading was so good. I could feel the emotion Bertie felt.

Struggles and hardships

Overall, it was good. I wish it had wrapped up in a way such as when Sam and Bertie was old and it recapped how the kids grew up and overcame being abandoned.
Also, did the one kid ever find his family…… Just a lot of open ended situations. It honestly felt like the author got tired of the book herself and decided to end it.

Kept Me Wanting To Hear More

I enjoyed this story very much! There is so much truth in it that it could be someone's true story. And the performance by Stephanie Einstein was fantastic. I will be looking for more by this writer & the narrator.
