"There are many incredible revelations about the relationships of John and Yoko and Paul and Linda and their impact on the band. This is one of those audiobooks you can't shut off and will never forget."—AudioFile (Earphones Award Winner)

An oral history of The Beatles from never-before-seen interviews.

All You Need Is Love is a groundbreaking oral history of the one of the most enduring musical acts of all time. The material is comprised of intimate interviews with Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, their families, friends and business associates that were conducted by Beatles intimate Peter Brown and author Steven Gaines in 1980-1981 during the preparation of their international bestseller, The Love You Make, which spent four months on the New York Times bestseller list in 1983 and remains the biggest selling biography worldwide about the Beatles.

Only a small portion of the contents of these transcribed interviews have ever been revealed. The interviews are unique and candid. The information, stories, and experiences, and the authority of the people who relate to them, have historic value. No collection like this can ever be assembled again.

In addition to interviews with Paul, Yoko, Ringo and George, Brown and Gaines also include interviews from ex-wives Cynthia Lennon, Pattie Harrison Clapton, and Maureen Starkey, as well as the major social and business figures of the Beatles’ inner circle. Among other sought-after information the interviews contribute definitively as to why the Beatles broke up.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Want to know why the Beatles broke up? Reveal[s] previously unknown details about the band’s story, including that devastating breakup. Brown is himself a long-time Beatles insider, having known the Fab Four since their early days as a band; he was best man when Lennon and Oko married in 1969. Steven Gaines is a journalist and author. For the new book, the pair have mined archival interviews with members of The Beatles, as well as with the women who were among their inner circle, including Yoko Ono, Cynthia Lennon, Pattie Harrison Clapton and Maureen Starkey."—From the People Magazine Announcement

fairly compelling. beware, a whole lot of minutiae which may bore the casual beatle fan. I do not recognize the may pang transcription. very different every may pang narrative I've ever come across. oh, and George Harrison did not write "Dear Prudence".

lots of micro stories I never knew.

If everything that was real , it needs more enthusiasm to tell the history some of the characters done fake

I loved that there were interviews and information that I had never heard before in this book. Overall there were great interviews.

Great information on the Beatles

Bought it hoping for insight but it’s just a series of recorded interviews espousing personal opinions and exposing just how simple minded some of those in and around the Beatles were.

More Enquirer than anything else

I’ve been a Beatles fan for 30 years now and I thought I knew pretty much everything about their time together and everything. But, this is very interesting because it was an insight and a look into a whole different side of the Beatles that I have never even thought about or could’ve possibly known. This is the intimate look Inside of the Beatles inner circle and what they saw, and so you get a much more complete picture of the Beatles as a group and the Beatles as people. I highly recommend this book for any Beatles fan! 10 out of 10 will highly recommend!

Way more interesting than I anticipated

Great story that needed to be told. The timing of the interviews in and around 1980 was the right time. Now I feel that the story of the Beatles can be closed.

The final word

A well documented book, many people doing the voice overs of each character in the book.

Not so much "in their own words", actually mostly from the "Inner Circle", but fascinating reading nonetheless for those already familiar with Beatles backstory. Learned a lot I did not already know and added depth to some previously publicized events that changed my initial perception of the event. Also, I liked that the narrators are either actually the real people, or close enough in the sound of the voice to be credible. I really liked that there was a variety of narrators.

Deceptive Title

Just when you think there is nothing more to know about the Beatles, this book/audiobook gets released! It's crazy that the original interview tapes were vaulted for forty years. It's quite fortunate that we readers and Beatles fans now have an opportunity to access this treasure trove of personal insights - directly from the Fab Four's own lips. It is absolutely riveting. I couldn't stop listening.

Absolutely Riveting!!

I didn’t realize how short this was, but I’m still glad that I downloaded it because it was very interesting and very well done.
