About this listen

In this captivating novel of love, family and betrayal, two sisters mean everything to each other - until one secret shatters it all.

Sisters Jess and Ivy have always shared everything - childhood memories, a flat, a love of romcoms. As different as they are, together they’re the perfect balance, with Jess’s calm elegance complementing Ivy’s spirit and thirst for adventure.

But there is one thing - one person - they can’t share: Ivy’s friend, Finn. And when Jess falls for him, the betrayal cuts deep, forming a chasm between the two sisters that widens with every passing day....

Years after that fateful falling out, Jess receives a call that changes everything and throws her on a journey following in her wilder sister’s footsteps, to discover what happened to Ivy. But is it ever too late to say you’re sorry?

My selection for February Bookclub

After trying to read, I switched to audio and like it better. Even though it was different than most of our books, most members liked it. 3.8 out of 5 and everyone read or listened to it. Ruth was the most like character because she really helped Ivy and brought them all together. Jess made us think about letting others help when you’re the oldest.

Absolutely beautiful story

I absolutely love this book! By far the easiest read/listening. I would recommend this book to everyone. It truly shows you that life is too short not to live life to the fullest, say what your heart wants and needs without fear.

Tears

I loved this book so much. I cried for most of the read. I was not expecting all of this when I started the story. By the end of the book I was in full blown ugly cry. Superb

Just…WOW!!

Absolutely loved this book. What a lovely story that is so relatable to someone we’ve all known or heard about. I loved how well the author conveyed the emotions of Ivy & Jess. Looking forward to more from this author.

Not What I Expected

I initially thought this book would dwell into Black family issues, regrets, and/or resolutions but, seem the reader was either unfamiliar or intentionally strayed away from this family dynamic. I'm taken to India of all places....why? Also, I felt the book was best suited for younger audiences middle aged to younger adults. I'm much older and therefore was a little bored by the wordiness and lingering ideas to make obvious points. Lastly, I didn't like the way the ending left the reader wondering whether Jesse & Finn successfully reunited. After all that reading, the reader didn't get to experience that joy; making the final closure too vague and pointless. Still, I managed to keep my interest & curiosity well enough to get through its entirety. Mainly because it was randomly picked for my book club discussion. Just personally not for me.

Regrets…

Two sisters who stopped speaking to each other after a falling out. Then one passes away and the other is dealing with regrets. Touching story, although a bit slow at times.
