"Lazarre-White masterfully portrays people of multiple races, old and young. He also delivers Cosby's reflections on family, grief, and faith with genuine introspection and without distracting from the tense plotlines...This is a gripping, timely tale—beautifully told."—AudioFile (Earphones Award winner)

The new novel from New York Times bestselling and Los Angeles Times Book Prize-winning author S. A. Cosby, "one of the most muscular, distinctive, grab-you-by-both-ears voices in American crime fiction.”—The Washington Post.

A Black sheriff. A serial killer.

A small town ready to combust.

Titus Crown is the first Black sheriff in the history of Charon County, Virginia. In recent decades, quiet Charon has had only two murders. But after years of working as an FBI agent, Titus knows better than anyone that while his hometown might seem like a land of moonshine, cornbread, and honeysuckle, secrets always fester under the surface.

Then a year to the day after Titus’s election, a school teacher is killed by a former student and the student is fatally shot by Titus’s deputies. As Titus investigates the shootings, he unearths terrible crimes and a serial killer who has been hiding in plain sight, haunting the dirt lanes and woodland clearings of Charon.

With the killer’s possible connections to a local church and the town’s harrowing history weighing on him, Titus projects confidence about closing the case while concealing a painful secret from his own past. At the same time, he also has to contend with a far-right group that wants to hold a parade in celebration of the town’s Confederate history.

Charon is Titus’s home and his heart. But where faith and violence meet, there will be a reckoning.

Powerful and unforgettable, All the Sinners Bleed confirms S. A. Cosby as “one of the most muscular, distinctive, grab-you-by-both-ears voices in American crime fiction” (The Washington Post).

Editorial Review

Southern discomfort
I finished listening to this S.A. Cosby thriller while in Houston, where it was about 92 degrees. Not born yesterday, I wasn’t running out to take in the sights. In the cool of my hotel room, I savored the last couple of hours. He sure can weave a story. His storytelling has so many layers, he makes a Napoleon, that multilayered pastry, look like a thin slice of pound cake. The main character is Titus Crown, the first Black sheriff of Charon County. I can’t imagine a more fitting name for him. You can see it in the way he speaks, walks, and looks. I’ve pointed out Cosby’s spot-on descriptive words before. Here’s another one for you, where Titus observes of Officer Pip: “The bottom three buttons on his shirt were performing a labor of Hercules as they kept his belly from spilling out.” His narrator, Adam Lazarre-White, delivers all voices impeccably. Charon County is lucky to have Titus, the crimes are ugly and brutal, and he is on the case. Big time. —Yvonne D., Audible Editor

Visceral, gripping, thrilling and entertaining

"All the Sinners Bleed" is another visceral, fantastic, dark and atmospheric thriller that solidifies New York Times bestselling and Los Angeles Times Book Prize-winning author S. A. Cosby as “one of the most distinctive, original and entertaining storytellers in American crime fiction.

The story follows Titus Crown, the first Black sheriff in the history of Charon County, a small town with big secrets in Virginia, that at first sight may seem like a land of moonshine, cornbread, and honeysuckle. Although in recent decades, quiet Charon has had only two murders, a deranged and ruthless serial killer will bring a time of darkness, fear and despair for everyone living there.

Award-winning actor, director, writer, artist and audiobook narrator Adam Lazarre-White skillfully brings all the characters, their stories and this unforgettable, timely tale to life in a gripping and colorful performance. I can’t think of any other narrator who could have done a better job with this dramatic story.

"All the Sinners Bleed" picks up steam fast and doesn’t let go until the very end. An unpausable story made even better as an audiobook thanks to the masterful narration!

Great New Thriller!

Heroic sheriff confronting old ways of discrimination against black and brown people, as well as dealing with a sociopathic killer in the south. Well written AND suspenseful. Great story and performance.

One of the best thrillers I’ve read recently

I love a good thriller, and a good detective story and this is both. I would really love for there to be more books featuring Titus - he is such a great character, and I really felt like I knew him and wished we were friends by the end of this book.

Riveting

Gorgeous writing and a ripping good read. From the pacing to the depth of characterization it exceeds the genre. Think Grisham for story, Faulkner for imagery, and SA Cosby for his own powerful voice of black Southern truth.

Lives up the the hype

An tightly woven crime thriller with the added bonus of an honest look at the south and its attempt to remain relevant. The focus on the daily struggles of black people in a society awash with casual and institutional racism brings an edge of reality that only adds to the conflict. Fabulous narrator too!
