Acerca de esta escucha

Da'vi, the relentless. Da'vi, the cold and harsh. The alien who keeps his distance, yet never fails to bicker with me over the smallest details. Tension between us is coiled so tight it's bound to snap . . . and I'm bound to do what I always do-leave. There are a hundred different reasons I should go, yet I'm drawn in by the only thing that matters to me anymore-and it's certainly NOT Da'vi's friendship. I'm talking about saving humans.

One last mission and I'm done jumping through everyone's hoops, Da'vi's especially. Only, this lead we're following . . . it brings us closer than I ever thought we could be. And once Da'vi and I cross that line, there's no going back. I've got two choices: fight this bond . . . or SURRENDER.

Too bad for Da'vi I'm not the type of girl who goes down without a fight.

How it made me feel: 🥰🥵😉😡🤬😍

The stuff she put that poor mate of her through. She was one of the most stubborn and thick headed women of this series. As much as I understood her feelings, she was so back and forth and confusing the man until he almost broke and surrendered himself. This was a fun action packed story and I really enjoy the difference in this series then from all the others I’ve read. The world building is fantastic, character development and growth and plot moves a lot at a great pace. I can’t wait for more to release on audio

I'm really excited that some progress was made in the overarching plot of finding people, but Allison is absolutely unbearable.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚💜💙
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😒🥺😀🙂
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Allison - she lost her mother and stepfather when she was a senior in high school. She and her sister Casey saw each other less and less after that, eventually becoming completely estranged which hurt Allison deeply. They never got to make up before Allison was abducted by alien slavers. She and other human females were rescued by another group of aliens. She often has nightmares that either she or her sister is held against their will again. So, she has been doing an apprenticeship with Da’vi on his spaceship. He has been teaching her all the skills he knows to survive. She wants to make sure she is never caught unaware again. She also wants to help out girls “who are too scared or trapped to help themselves.”

The Hero: Da’vi - Da’vi has known for a while that Allison is his mate. He loves the fact that she is a warrior, not a delicate flower like other females. He knows how driven she is and that she has no need for love or a mate. She only hangs out with Da’vi and doesn’t really have any friends back in Beacon where the rest of his people and the human females that had been rescued live. Da’vi hides the softer side of himself, the loving side, that he thinks Allison would have no appreciation for. He fears the time when she leaves his side and goes off on her own, though he is proud of how intelligent and fierce she is but worries that she might be on a suicide path.

The Story: Allison wants to be self-reliant, and she knows her apprenticeship will be over soon. She knows she will soon have to strike out on her own. She won’t be able to stay with Da’vi long after he teaches her all he knows. Da’vi is hard on Allison, but only because he wants to give her the tools she needs to survive on her own. Da’vi and Allison spend a lot of their time arguing and bickering. Especially because Allison wants to run headlong into danger and Da’vi wants to keep her safe.

I will have to admit though, I did get a bit bored during this story, and there were a few reasons. First, I didn’t like the fact that this story went back to the beginning of Allisons story, before she was abducted by aliens, but then didn’t say much about her actual abduction, what she went through, how they were rescued and how she met and the beginning of her relationship with Da’vi. It just went from flashbacks and then immediately jumped into her having been Da’vi’s apprentice for a while. I like the backstory between two characters. Then I also got bored of all the arguing between the two of them. I didn’t really like the heroine all that much, she was reckless, and it seemed she thought she was invincible. She wanted what she wanted and even when she was given good reasons for the fact that she couldn’t do something, she acted like she accepted it but really didn’t. Though the story got a lot more exiting towards the end.

This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and was narrated in dual narration by Eva Caine and Gabriel De Leon. Gabriel has a deep, smooth voice that I really enjoy. He sounds very sexy and expressive. Eva Caine has a nice voice, and I didn’t like her so much the first time I listened to a book she narrated but I find myself liking her more and more each time. She does a great job and is easy to listen to.

Not quite as good as the rest of the series!

I had hoped this book would be as good as the first and it is definitely not even close. I despise the female character to the point that at half way in, I just can't take it anymore. I'll give the author props for making this character, but there is a point for me where I just can't go along with it. Allison is a "warrior goddess" who is too stupid to live and thrives on stubbornness and spite. The main male character is unfortunate to have to accept the situation and her abuse again and again. By half way, when they've appeared to finally bond I was like, ok now the next 4 hours of this book are going to be better/different - wrong, just more of the same with extra stupid. So, I'm done. I can not and will not subject myself to more of these miserable characters or this series.

DNF for good reason

You’d think snake-like Da’vi, with his green skin and rattling scales was the cold-blooded one, but Allison was the most prickly, condescending, egotistical and cruel FMC that I’ve had the displeasure of knowing. The unbalanced personalities, with Da’vi being supportive and respectful, made things even worse.

On top of the FMC being toxic, I resented how everything just fell into her lap, like the absurdity of her walking into a place and having an entire crew of warriors bend the knee to die for her. She did not deserve anyone’s loyalty, much less Da’vi’s love.

She’s not worthy
