Book Review: Torrn’s Mate by Sue Lyndon

Torrn’s Mate is an intensely possessive and highly dominant romance that explores themes of self-discovery and surrender. The story delves into the realization that the path we believe we should follow may not always align with what we truly need. It also embraces the idea that relinquishing control to another—especially in a consensual and trusting dynamic—can be both freeing and fulfilling. “Villainized” the fiancé at the end to make the plot easier to swallow. The “saviors” had every right to rebel. With their women taken in exchange for help, the guys weren’t even given “the butt plugs” in compensation.

Tornn’s Mate is the first book in the WorldShip Brides series. This is Admiral Tornn and Ellie’s story.

Tornn is a “barbaric Darrvason admiral. She is among the first wave of human women to go to the Darrvason. The women are being traded for food and fuel. The aliens need women to breed.

The Narrators are Tor Thorn and Heather Firth. I loved listening to these 2 narrators as they read to me, especially Tor Thorn. That was a sexy deep voice! Heather Firth did a fantastic job as well.

I received this book off Kindle Unlimited and bought the audio from Audible.

Just WOW.

It’s dark, dirty and wonderful. If you don’t like spanking or dubious consent this book is not for you. If you like the above go for it. I Loved this book and can’t wait to read/listen to the next one. The narrators were fantastic.

Tornn and Ellie

This book is the first in a series and tells us the story of Ellie one of the 30 human women granted to the Darrvason race in exchange for help with the dying Worldship. The Worldship contains all that is left of the human race. It has been travelling in space for years in search of a planet on which to make a new home but now the ship is dying and without the treaty formed with the Darrvasons would soon be unable to sustain life.

The male who chooses her is Admiral Tornn, at first Ellie is terrified but will comply with whatever he demands as the lives of her sister and mother have been threatened by the commander of the Worldship who is also Ellie's uncle and there is no love lost there.

Over time a closeness and bond forms between this unlikely pairing, which ultimately leads to love but the journey is not Smooth, to tell you more would spoil what I found to be an enjoyable and different sci-fi romance, it's a somewhat sensual dark love story but it is a love story and one that I enjoyed very much.

The wonderfully performed narration is by Heather Firth and Tor Thorn who both do an incredible job bringing the tensions and emotions of the characters to life.

I look forward to listening to the next book in the Worldship Brides series

Keeping secrets

Get so tired of stories where the H/h keep secrets. I just want a story line that the issues are outside of the relationship not in it. Also I wish I would have known ahead of time that this is a type of bdsm. I wouldn’t have bought it if I would have known. So I missed about a quarter of the book if not more because I skipped certain scenes.
