Brilliant! Can't believe this was free.

If you want a rehash of the same old story you'll be disappointed. If you're open to a new variation on the theme, you'll likely enjoy it very much. I loved the ensemble cast reading and sound effects. More like an audio play than an audio book.

A truly original retelling of the Arthurian legend

I listened to this audiobook almost non stop.
The theme is about King Arthur, but the story is unique.
Outstanding performances and production.
Highly recommended!!

Terrible Message

These performances are incredible, but the message is so disappointing: it’s a woke deconstruction (i.e., tearing down) of Arthurian legend. It asks, “what if Arthur were really just some punk who stole the credit for everyone else’s achievements?” The writers want you to believe that Gawain was the real “Arthur” and that Arthur Pendragon was churlish, impudent, disdainful, imprudent, supercilious, ignorant, arrogant, impotent, and WEAK — 110% NOT the Arthur we know from Britain’s founding mythos. These writers and producers want you to believe that there is no magic in the world, nothing more than materialism, that all of our symbols are empty, just so much smoke and mirrors. And yet at the same time they want you to know that despite our symbols’ emptiness, the elite will always be able to wield them against you — the plebs, the unwashed masses — to dupe you into accepting their rule. It’s just gross.

something different

This is not what I expected at all, certainly not a traditional Arthur Pendragon tale either but I truly enjoyed the ride

Enjoyable Listen

If you’re looking for an authentic retelling of the Arthur saga, this audio tale is not for you. But I really loved the actors, and the story, while brief, was a nice yarn. I recommend it.

Legend in IRL

A character reworking of the classic fable spun into more of a realistic possibility. Found it enjoyable. But it’s not for the Arthur purist.

Great Performance!

I particularly enjoy listening to a full cast drama story. The production and sound effects are really good and makes the story even more entertaining.
I have never been a big fan of King Arthur but I really liked this original drama.

Engaging But Choppy

The story was engaging, and the voice actors were strong. But the pace was choppy; there were too many scenes that were only seconds long. I think I understand what the writer was trying to do, but with the sound breaks-- the transitions were poor at times--I found myself distracted by them. It was quite disconcerting sometimes.

I would say that this is worth listening to unless such distractions bother your ear excessively. I found that I couldn't totally ignore these distractions.

I did think the voice actors did well to keep their characters consistent and strong.

I would recommend this with reservations.

Great performance. Great story.

10 stars all the way.

Fabulous reimagining of the legend of King Arthur as it could have really happened historically.

I cannot say how much I enjoyed the idea, the story, and the performances.
