Story
This is a complete presentation on the workings of the human spirit and soul and body. The book aims at delivering people from the tyranny of self-life with its carnality and from the domination of the passions and lusts of the flesh. It attempts to lead them to the full salvation of Christ. It is not to be taken as a manual but as a guide to true spirituality. It is recommended that this three-volume work be listened to quickly once.

Story
The Song of Solomon is one of the finest love poems ever written. Over the centuries its beautiful language and sublime imagery have enchanted readers. But why is this tender love poem included in the Scripture? How should we interpret it? This is a real mystery to many of us, but Watchman Nee believes it is possible to discover within the poem all the principles needed to develop the spiritual life. In this devotional commentary, he explores the love relationship between the individual believer and the Lord.

Story
Anyone who serves God will discover sooner or later that the great hindrances he has in the Lord's work is not others but himself. He will discover that his outward man (soul) is not in harmony with his inward man (spirit). Both tend to go toward two opposite directions from each other. He will also sense the inability of his outward man to submit to the inner control of his regenerated spirit. His greatest difficulty lies in his outward man, which hinders him from using his spirit.

Authority is a tremendous thing in the universe, nothing overshadows it. God's throne is established on His authority. God's authority represents God Himself. God alone is authority in all things; all the authorities of the earth are instituted by God. It is therefore important for us who desire to serve God to know the authority of God.

Then, their son Micah, serving his Mormon mission in Florida, had a revelation: God knew him personally. God loved him. And the Mormon Church did not offer the true gospel. As Lynn tells her story of abandoning the deception of Mormonism to receive God's grace, she gives a rare look into Mormon culture, what it means to grow up Mormon, and why the contrasts between Mormonism and Christianity make all the difference in the world.

This deeply textured dual biography and fascinating intellectual history examines two of the greatest minds of European history - Desiderius Erasmus and Martin Luther - whose heated rivalry gave rise to two enduring, fundamental, and often colliding traditions of philosophical and religious thought.

Providing an example to Christians today of strong service to Christ and his church, these influential, godly women were devoted to Reformation truth, in many cases provided support for their husbands, practiced hospitality, and stewarded their intellectual abilities.

Story
In this vital, eye-opening book, best-selling author Ed Silvoso digs into Scripture, unearthing Jesus' true design for his church - his Ekklesia. He shows how the early church was a radical, countercultural force of people who transformed the hostile, pagan places in which they lived. Here Dr. Silvoso shows how we, in the midst of the social, economic, political, and moral chaos in our world today, can once again become the revolutionary, transformational, life-giving Ekklesia Jesus called us to be.

Story
Abraham Lincoln is the most beloved of all US presidents. He freed the slaves, gave the world some of its most beautiful phrases, and redefined the meaning of America. He did all of this with wisdom, compassion, and wit. Yet, throughout his life, Lincoln fought with God. In his early years in Illinois, he rejected even the existence of God and became the village atheist. In time, this changed but still he wrestled with the truth of the Bible, preachers, doctrines, the will of God, the providence of God, and then, finally, God’s purposes in the Civil War.

Excellent biography of a faithful Christian
I have read many of Watchman Nee's works. Hearing his life story gave me greater insight as to how the Spirit was working in and through him.

So Good. Narrator is outstanding, as well!
I can understand why some may not be able to hang in there in the beginning. The beginning contains many names and places that are foreign to some of us, so it takes a bit more focus than most books, but that's just the start.
If you can make it past the first 30 minutes of the book, you'll be so happy you did!
This man is truly a pattern for all those who seek to live a life for Christ and the church. I suggest starting with this book, then checking out The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee. I don't care how long you've been a believer, if you haven't touched this yet, YOU WILL BE BLOWN AWAY. These two books will change the way you see your Christian living.
I'm pretty tough when it comes to sad stories, but I'll admit right now that I cried at the end of this book.
May the Lord richly bless all who hear this.

This book greatly impacted my life!
I first read Watchman Nee’s book The Normal Christian Life forty years ago as a new disciple of Christ and it greatly impacted my life. However, listening to Against the Tide deeply touched me as I fully understood Nee’s total commitment to Christ! It challenged and inspired me!

WASN'T AS ENJOYABLE AS EXPECTED
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I didn't enjoy this book as much as I expected to, knowing how much I enjoy listening to Watchman Nee's books. I haven't even finished listening to it. Maybe if I complete the book, by the end of it I may have changed my mind. But so far, it's boring.
