About this listen

Ripley and her friends have escaped the University's lockdown and started their journey home on foot. They've found an opportunity to get supplies they sorely need, but the risk is high. Marco insists that the world is already far more dangerous than it seems, while Ripley's not yet convinced.

She's about to get a very bloody wake-up call.

Back home, Dotty worries over her little makeshift family, scattered to the four winds. Her neighbor is already out of food and getting pushy. There's been a riot, and a man was killed. Holiday travelers, stranded without gas, fill the town's parking lots. The elderly have begun dying. At the edge of town, watching over the Federal prison, the Sheriff faces a horrible decision.

The idyllic little town of Snow Hill is a powder keg, and the Mayor is holding a match.

Over the past century, people had become so reliant on electricity that they forgot how to provide for themselves. With the push of a button, food cooked in minutes. Endless clean water flowed from the faucets. Freezers preserved food for years. Stores were open 24 hours a day; there was no need to keep a pantry. What once had been thought of as magic had become...normal.

Ripley and Dotty are about to discover that normal has left the building.

Reality, with all of its hardships and danger, has arrived.

Not everyone will survive it.

Good story, and awesome narration!

It's one of the more realistic post-apocoliptic stories, but the best narration I've found yet!

Adbent

A good second book in a series.Ripley and her college friends are on their own when the grid goes down. They battle their way to Ripleys destination with whatever they can find and Ripleys knowledge of camping etc. Life will never be the same.Kevin Pierce and Becket Royce are the perfect narators.“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

Fresh Take on TEOTWAWKI

What did you like best about this story?

I love the characters. So glad to not hear gun descriptions every other chapter! I can't wait for the next one! This is my favorite series at this time and I read/listen to tons of Apocalyptic novels.

Which character – as performed by Kevin Pierce and Becket Royce – was your favorite?

Kevin Pierce is by far my favorite narrator! I love being read to rather than listening to an overacted radio play which some "narrators" tend to do. Kevin Pierce adds so much and never gets in the way of the book!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely!

Awesome!!!!

i am really hoping for another book! The author develops character like I would expect for a real disaster that doesn't involve them being a special trained operative. and some of the prepper ideas in here are good, something ive never thought of

loved

This series is very interesting, I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. Dotty is definitely my favorite but all the "good" characters are so loveable and relatable. I also enjoy 2 narrators verses 1.

Ranks in top 5 series of this genre

I would rank this up in the top five with one second after, the going home series, and some of Franklin Horton's books. Good storyline, not completely unrealistic.

Great continuation of series

Ridley grows up! That’s the best thing.
We get to meet Preacher.
Grams, Dottie, continues to be the sweetest woman on the planet.
Criminals from the prisons are dealt with. Things are heating up as far as action goes.
Cant wait for book 3.
Kevin Pierce did an amazing job as always!

There is no place like home?

This was a really solid continuation of the series and I just find myself liking it more and more. This story picks up right where book 1 ended. Folloing 2 different POV, there is still no power and our main characters are trying to make it home with many different road blocks. I really enjoyed how the author not only showed the dark side of people in crisis but also the kind side throughout this story. This helps the author keep events fresh and the reader engaged. During this story you can really see the change in our main character's attitudes shifting from blissful and naive to nervous and ruthless. As this series progresses the author chooses to leave some events to the listener's imagination, which I am okay with but still nosy about. SO maybe a side novella or explaination in a future book. This story was done with duel narration and both did a wonderful job. Each narrator bring something different to the table and gel together very well. This is what brings the author's words to life. Our group of survivors journey is far from over and I can't wait to see what is in store next. Hurry book 3!
