About this listen
I was with a friend at a coffee shop. Being kind of thirsty, I reach over to grab a coconut water, which caused me to accidentally drop my wallet. "Oops," I say. Of course, it hits the ground square and all my cards pop out, making for a minor inconvenience and pretty hilarious episode. I pick up everything and get back up, continuing my conversation. But my friend has changed their demeanor and wasn't really interested in talking too much anymore. They ended up needing to leave for work rather suddenly and...well..."unexpectedly".
Later, I found out what happened: A mutual friend of ours called me to explain everything; he let me know that myself and this other friend probably weren’t going to be able to be friends anymore. I asked why, and he said she saw one of the cards I picked up and...well.... She wasn't too happy about it. You know, it's probably something most of you don't know about me either. What was so offensive? Well, my National Rifle Association card, no less.
This story is about a perspective, perhaps, one that’s new to you, coming from one of America’s most hated villains: an NRA member.

Story
The most common triggers for homicide are fear, rage, revenge, money, lust, and, more rarely, sheer madness. This isn’t an exact science, of course. Any given murder can have multiple triggers. Sex and revenge seem to be common partners in crime. This book offers my memories of homicide cases that I investigated or oversaw. In each case, I examine the trigger that led to death. I chose this theme for the book because even though the why of a murder case may not be critical in an investigation, it can sometimes lead us to the killer.

Story
Body cams and dashcams have fundamentally transformed law enforcement in recent years. These innovations can help prove someone committed a crime, or didn't. Real-life footage has cleared people initially accused of wrongdoing, and in certain instances even implicated officers. But that same type of footage can also be used to clear police falsely accused of misdeeds. From allegations of harassment or bias to false arrests or even criminal conduct, these videos can prove officers did not cross a line as, sometimes, they are alleged to have done.

Story
The most RJ Young knew about guns was that they could get him killed. Until, recently married to a white woman and in desperate need of a way to relate to his gun-loving father-in-law, Young does the unimaginable: He accepts Charles's gift of a Glock. Let It Bang is the compelling story of the author's unexpected obsession - he eventually becomes an NRA-certified pistol instructor - and of his deep dive into the heart of America's gun culture: what he sees as the domino effect of White fear, White violence, Black fear, rinse, repeat.

Aspiring model Sandee Rozzo's big mistake was being kind to Timothy "Tracey" Humphrey. After Rozzo refused the 'roided-up ex-con's advances, she described how he imprisoned, raped, and brutalized her for two days. When the courageous woman pledged to testify against him, Humphrey knew he had to silence her. That's when he turned to 19-year-old Ashley Laney. She had fallen in love with Humphrey, her personal trainer, and would do anything for him. On their wedding night, he made a strange request - one that would end with eight gunshot wounds and a dead body.
