Acerca de esta escucha

'My heart felt heavy with sadness for these two little girls.'

Foster carer Maggie Hartley is used to all manner of children arriving on her doorstep, but nothing can prepare her for sisters Billy and Bo when they arrive at her home. It is clear from the moment she sets eyes on them four-year-old Bo and seven-year-old Billy have clearly been subjected to unimaginable neglect, and it takes all of Maggie's skills as a foster carer to try to connect with the volatile little girls, who seem far younger than their years.

Over time, the little girls slowly emerge from their shells, and Maggie begins the difficult task of trying to gain their trust. But as time goes on, it becomes clear that there is something much darker going on, something that will call into question everything Maggie has ever learned in all her years as a foster carer...

A true story of hope from Sunday Times bestselling author Maggie Hartley, a foster carer for over 20 years.

Maggie is God’s gift to children.

Wonderfully written as usual. My fifth book by her so far. Great educational reading for foster carers.

Another great Maggie Hartley Book!

THE MAIN FOCUS IS NOT ON WEIGHT! BUT I WAN5 TO SHARE WHY SHE DISCUSSES THIS!Some have reviewed that she focuses to much on the girls weight. I disagree. These kids came struggling to walk from the car to the door.
These kids had nutritional rickets from just eating candy and fat.
Present time only a 125 kids are diagnosed with this a year in th UK

This is a good defiention of Rickets

“Nutritional rickets is a bone disease in early childhood resulting in bone pain, delayed motor development, and bending of the bones, caused by vitamin D deficiency and/or inadequate dietary calcium intake.”
FROM-
https://publichealthreviews.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40985-016-0018-3#citeas

BUT THIS WAS FAR FROM THE MAIN POINT OF THE BOOK! THIS WAS A GOOD BOOK AND THE STORYLINE HAD SO LITTLE TO DO WITH THAT I HOPE PEOPLE WILL READ THOS WH3N THEY UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WERE DISCUSSIONS HEALTHY EATING AND NOT JUST PASS UP THE BOOK BECAUS SOMEONE DIDNT LIKE HER GETTING A SIC’ KID HEALTHY!

DONT PASS THIS BOOK UP ITS A GOOD ONE!

Overly fixating on the children's weight

The way she spoke about the children was insensitive. I know that childhood obesity is a very touchy subject. Unfortunately I felt that she missed the mark on this one. Constantly bringing attention to an overweight individuals body can cause more harm than good in the long run. Things like a yo-yo dieting, depression body dysmorphia...

Boring - bad narration

I will go back to Cathy glass for my foster care books. I made myself finish it but it was not my fave.
