About this listen

Rylie Marshall has blue, green, yellow, and a mixture of pills that made her "normal". But her idea of normal and what her mother or society wanted her to be never seemed to match up.

She lives day by day in a fantasy land within her own troubled head and books. Reading was her escape whenever even her head denied her such a haven. So, how was she to know that one day, sitting on the beach, a book would show her the one thing she didn't have, but might change her life...

Love.

Mike Newport had white, yellow, and striped pills that made him capable of being one of the most cutthroat corporate marketing advisers his clients could have. Not even a life-changing tragedy could slow him down.

His days and most nights were spent with his head buried in flow charts, graphs, and spreadsheets. Busy was the best way - the heart could easily be ignored, as it was dying inside his chest.

The last thing he needed was a vacation, but how was he to know that a carefree girl, playing in the waves and talking to the birds, might give him the one thing he had been avoiding...

Love.

From best-selling author Jas T. Ward comes a touching, quirky, fun, and gritty listen - A Little Pill Called Love.

Great Narrators

Loved both of the narrators. Melanie Mason was fantastic as Rylie. She really brought her character to life as I was reading and did her so much justice. She gave Rylie is innocence that you would expect from a woman who is controlled by her mother and treated like a child. I could also feel her excitement when around Mike and the way she just blurted out whatever was on her mind made listening to this audiobook so great. Anthony Bowling did a great job as well as Mike who was enamored and captivated by the carefree Rylie.

A Little Pill Called Love is a really sweet, heartfelt romance with some twists, and shocking revelations. I really adored Rylie. She didn't fit inside norms and was so refreshing to read. She blurted out whatever came to mind, was filled so much kindness, and is probably the nicest character I've had the pleasure of reading. So its so easy to see why Mike was so drawn to her. When they were together I felt like their both were able to forget their troubles for a while and just be their true selves with each other. Jas T. Ward does a great job weaving in Mike and Rylie's past in as well so that we understand both of their pasts and the hesitance they both feel.

My heart also broke for Rylie and how her mother treated her. The pills she had to take and how they made her feel made me angry. She was a grown woman and her mother treated her like a child who wasn't capable of doing anything for herself. It was both heartbreaking and angering. This was also written so well and made this one even more intriguing to read.

Mending Two Broken Souls

I asked to receive this free review audible book and wrote this unbiased review. What a heart-wrenching and heartwarming story! This story will capture you and tear at your heart and emotions. You won't want to put it down. After a traumatic event, Mike has drowned himself in work. Rylie is such a free loving spirit that is controlled by her mother who says she is only trying to help her stay well. Mike is enchanted by Rylie's vibrant spirit. In reality Rylie leads a very tumultuous life. Her sanity is maintained by her romance books, a group of loyal friends, and now Mike. But then her life explodes and she is left alone to try to put it back together. Jas Ward has written a rollercoaster ride of emotions that makes this story a must listen to book.

The narrators do an outstanding job of portraying the emotions and personalities of these characters and bring them to life. They are fantastic storytellers and definitely create a vivid picture in your mind. These narrators are new to me and as you can tell, I was impressed. I highly recommend this Audible book. It is a story of triumph and love.

That mother, gah!!!

If you can get past the interactions between the mother and daughter (CRINGE!) this listen delivers on all fronts!! (Silly title though.)

Riley has some behavioral issues that her mother, er, facilitates. When Riley meets Michael/Mikey, she starts to think on her own. The love story that develops is pretty special.

The duo narrators were a great call!!
