About this listen
A child peeling an orange on the subway. A bearded man with gentle eyes holding a tin cup on the corner. When we see life through the lens of faith, everyday moments become a source of hope and strength. In this collection of essays, chaplain Andrea Raynor reveals the unexpected places she has experienced the Divine and shows us how we, too, might come to see life as a spiritual adventure - one on which we are never truly alone.
Raynor's own life has required more than a little bit of faith. She served as chaplain to the morgue at Ground Zero and has ministered to hospice patients for more than twenty years. She's survived breast cancer and tended a brother wounded by the Vietnam War. Any one of these experiences could have shaken her belief, and yet she sees the holy in them all.
It's easy to lose our way, to forget who we are and why we are here. But each moment, no matter how trying, helps us chart our course and lights our path toward a more spiritually fulfilling life - all that's required of us is an open heart and a little faith on the journey.

Story
He Speaks in the Silence is the story of Diane Comer's search for the kind of intimacy with God every woman longs for. It is a story of trying to be a good girl, of following the rules, of longing for a satisfaction that eludes us. Disappointed with all Diane had been told was supposed to fulfill her, she begged God in desperation to give her more. And he did. But first he took her through a trial so debilitating it almost destroyed what little faith she had. He let her go deaf.

Story
There is no one whose brokenness is too broken for God. We know this is true for our friends when we want to encourage them. Yet, when it comes to the places of out innermost sense of regret, we often wonder if it is really true that God can work all things together for good for those who love Him. Angie Smith is one who was quick to encourage a friend, but struggled to believe that God could truly make something spectacular out of her brokenness and disappointments.

Disappointed
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I was disappointed in the theology of this book. It was not what I expected and I actually decided not to finish the book since her approach was not, in my opinion, backed up biblically. She did a great job on word pictures however and I am sure she is a blessing to those coming from her theological and philosophical position.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Not sure.
Would you be willing to try another one of Andrea Raynor’s performances?
No
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
