About this listen

The writing team that delivered the bestselling Faithful, about the 2004 Red Sox championship season, takes listeners to the ballpark again, and to a world beyond.

Dean Evers, an elderly widower, sits in front of the television with nothing better to do than waste his leftover evenings watching baseball. It’s Rays/Mariners, and David Price is breezing through the line-up. Suddenly, in a seat a few rows up beyond the batter, Evers sees the face of someone from decades past, someone who shouldn’t be at the ballgame, shouldn’t be on the planet. And so begins a parade of people from Evers’s past, all of them occupying that seat behind home plate. Until one day Dean Evers sees someone even eerier….

short but good

"But, as with so much of his daily existence, there was no one to share it with."
A Face in the Crowd by Stephen King & Stewart O'Nan

"Late that night, around three, Evers could easily see why of all the possible punishments prisoners feared solitary confinement the most. At some point a beating had to stop, but a thought could go on and on, feeding and then feeding on insomnia."

Eyes do play tricks

What would you do it you were watching tv, and starting seeing people that you know shouldn't be on the TV? You knew that these people had passed away many years ago and here they are on the tv live and kicking in front of your eyes. Well this is what was happening to Dean, he started seeing people at a baseball game and these people had things that they wanted to say to him. This book is very interesting to me, it had a meaning to it, it made Dean realize that he may not have treated people the right way throughout his past and he hurt a few of them.

Good story

I have to be honest, I'm not a big baseball fan but I do love Mr King and his writings
so it was a nice story. the narrator was great.

Short.... but thought provoking

What made the experience of listening to A Face in the Crowd the most enjoyable?

Good story, but way too short. Wish the whole this was fleshed out in the usual style.

Good story, enjoyable!

This may not have been my absolute favorite of the King collaborations, but it's good and definitely worth listening to.

I've loved listening to Craig Wasson since "11/22/63" and this is no exception.

Quick one

Stephen King toying with the afterlife. Good story, good narration - same guy who did 11/22/63. Check it out

Classic Stephen King

This was a very classic style Stephen King story. Starts off with a man that seems like just any other man and delves into his history to uncover a multi layered character with secrets in his past he doesn’t want to confront. Top it all off with a twist at the end. Narrator was fantastic giving emotion and character to the book.

Kept me reading

This is not one of Stephen Kings best but it was interesting enough to keep me reading.

A Life Revealed ~ Between the Pitches

A clever tale, wonderfully told, ably narrated, uncharacteristically brief (at least for Steven King).

This is a great one-hour (or so) listen ~ a morality play of sorts ~ with BASEBALL.
