1984, dnes již klasické dílo antiutopického žánru, je bezesporu jedním z nejpozoruhodnějších románů 20. století a brilantní analýzou totalitních systémů. Britská společnost žije v roce 1984 pod nadvládou všemocné Strany. Hlavní hrdina Winston Smith, zaměstnanec Ministerstva pravdy, roboticky přežívá pod stálým dohledem Velkého bratra. Nepřetržité války a nedostatek základních potravin ještě přispívají k všeobecné duševní prázdnotě a mizérii. Winston Smith se zmůže na jedinou formu odporu: vede si tajný deník. Naděje na změnu se mu naskytne, když se seznámí s mladou, vzpurnou Julií – nejprve oba pouze sní o boji proti systému, ale nakonec seberou odvahu a připojí se ke stínovému hnutí odporu. Záhy se oba propadají ještě hlouběji do soukolí manipulace, špiclování, tělesného mučení i psychického teroru, které jsou všem totalitním režimům z podstaty vlastní. Audiokniha se v osobní rovině dotýká niterných témat, jako je láska, důvěra a zrada, zatímco v té abstraktní si klade filozofické otázky o povaze a poznání světa.
