About this listen

A new addition to the four-time New York Times best-selling Ring of Fire series from alternate history master Eric Flint.

After carving a place for itself among the struggling powers of 17th-century Western Europe, the "out-of-time" modern town of Grantville, West Virginia must fight for its life against Dark Age domination.

A cosmic accident sets the modern town of Grantville, West Virginia, down in war-torn 17th-century Europe and a new nation is forged. Now when United States of Europe ally King Gustavas of Sweden invades Poland, the U.S. of E. is dragged into a full-scale European war against ruthless opponents.

Meanwhile Mike Stearns, wily and courageous leader of the up-time West Virginians, has been turned out of office in an election. But, like Churchill (before and after him) Stearns is not done yet. He's determined to stoke the fires of democratic rebellion in Saxony near the main front, and thus keep the young nation he founded, and once led, out of the hands of medieval tyrants - tyrants who would like nothing better than to wipe those troublesome upstarts from the future off the timeline and go back to the bad old days of oppression and serfdom.

Another fantastic story!

Having listened to all of this series I find it refreshing to again know and listen to a solely written Eric Flint book. There’s something that sets them aside from the others. Me. Guidall’s reading is marvelous as ever.

Better by Flint

The characters tend to speak in cliché. Also, the characters apostrophe wary do not match West Virginia.

Always solid story

Eric Flint again has written an enjoyable story in his Ring of Fire series. The only problem with this book is the fact that there’s almost no way you can start the series here and not be totally lost.
I HIGHLY recommend that you go ALL the way back to 1632, the story that started it all, and begin from there.
If you are up to date with the series, you will enjoy this one.

An excellent continuation

The poorly performed narration was disjointed, halting, and off-putting. Other than that, it was another solid Ring of Fire novel.

Good book, less than wonderful narration

While the whole ring of fire series has been captivating, it is alway especially enjoyable to have another volume directly from Eric Flint himself!

Lovely

This excellent book is for some unexplainable reason not listed by Audible in their book numbering, i.e. book number 36 since it is followed by Transylvanian Decision.

Sexual to the Viennese Waltz
