エドガー・アラン・ポー（Edgar Allan Poe）
1809年1月19日～1849年10月7日。アメリカ合衆国ボストン市生まれの小説家・詩人。血液型はAB型。1841年に発表された小説『モルグ街の殺人』には探偵のC・オーギュスト・デュパンが登場し、史上初の推理小説と評価されることが多く、その後の推理小説の発展に寄与した。また、ホラー小説の分野でも一時代を代表する作家とみなされている。さらに作品に科学的事実を取り入れる手法はジュール・ヴェルヌによって注目され、近代SF発展の一因ともなった。詩人としては、自らの詩を解説しながら詩の構築を説いた『詩の原理』で、フランスの詩人、ボードレール、ステファヌ・マラルメなどの象徴派の系譜に多大な影響を与えた。ちなみに日本の推理作家、江戸川乱歩の名前は、エドガー・アラン・ポーをもじって付けられたものである。©2022 PanRolling
