My bad for not reading reviews first. But it’s an adaptation of Peter Pan, not the real thing. It was fine but I had a really hard time staying focused with this storyline. The original is much better!

Story
Lucy Barton is recovering slowly from what should have been a simple operation. Her mother, to whom she hasn’t spoken for many years, comes to see her. Gentle gossip about people from Lucy’s childhood in Amgash, Illinois, seems to reconnect them, but just below the surface lie the tension and longing that have informed every aspect of Lucy’s life: her escape from her troubled family, her desire to become a writer, her marriage, her love for her two daughters. Knitting this powerful narrative together is the brilliant storytelling voice of Lucy herself.

Well, that was sad. I had zero expectations except that I’ve absolutely loved the other boos from Wallace Stegner that I’ve read before… and this was different. His writing is still so amazing and wonderful. He’s one of my favorite authors. But the storyline of this book was just depressing.

I laughed. I cried. I winced and then did it all over again. I don’t remember who recommended this to me (or which blogger) but def a keeper. I loved the narrator and thought she did a fabulous job.
I wish Eudora, Rose, Maggie, Rob and especially Stan were my neighbors. I’d love to adopt them all into my life.
My only - hmmm- was when Eudora was talking to Jada and haunting her. I was surprised we didn’t hear from Jada’s mother later that same evening yelling at Eudora and all of us seeing why Jada was so mean to everyone.
But seriously one of my favorite books read this year. Highly recommend.

Local legend says that this shop offers something else besides coffee - the chance to travel back in time. Over the course of one summer, four customers visit the café in the hopes of making that journey. But time travel isn’t so simple, and there are rules that must be followed. Most important, the trip can last only as long as it takes for the coffee to get cold.

What a fun, interesting and very moving story. I loved it!!
I wish this cafe was real!!!!
This would be a great book for a book club to discuss. If you could go to this cafe and travel forward or back, following all the rules, who would you see?
I think every city needs a cafe like this, though, so it would really work. For those of us not in Japan it wouldn’t really do me much good except to experience time travel! Lol!
Im really glad glad I got this.
Btw, I did end up buying the kindle version as well since I kept getting all the people confused. There are quite a few people in the storyline and it was difficult keeping them in place just listening. I wish audible books also came with a character list of names and who they were, but otherwise I loved this.

Story
At times stern, at other times patient, at times perceptive, at other times in sad denial, Olive Kitteridge, a retired schoolteacher, deplores the changes in her little town of Crosby, Maine, and in the world at large, but she doesn’t always recognize the changes in those around her: a lounge musician haunted by a past romance; a former student who has lost the will to live; Olive’s own adult child, who feels tyrannized by her irrational sensitivities; and her husband, Henry, who finds his loyalty to his marriage both a blessing and a curse.

Just wow. I just finished listening to this and I don’t know whether I should laugh, cry, jump for joy or be very mad that the book ended! It’s a very good thing there is already a follow up book to this! I can’t wait to start Olive, Again! This book is not a light, beach read type of book. It’s not super heavy and depressing either. It has a bit of everything in it - just like life. Heartbreak, joy, concern, angst, laughter and awe. Okay, I’m done. I have to hurry and start the next book.
