Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

Great listen to a terrible tragedy.

I can't fathom what our armed services, both men and women went through during the 1st and 2nd World Wars. Wouk describes a down to earth story of the events surrounding the innocents as well. Highly recommended for those who haven't experienced the events surrounding World War II. Wars are hell, negotiated peace is the better alternative. That is if the parties coming together want PEACE.

One of the best of Jeff Shores novels about World War II. I felt as if I were there in the South Pacific trenches with the characters of the novel itself. A real good read for any World War II buff.
