I was cautious about buying a Patterson book, even with such a great collaborator. My apprehension was well founded. The book has lists Crition and his focus on scientific detail than I hoped full on Patterson fake adventure.

Although this was a difficult subject, I have never learned more about an unknown area of human sexuality. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in mental health issues and human sexuality.

Kept my interest throughout. No real surprises for me but that was fine. The characters were well written and the plot kept moving along

Good story about childhood friendships. Sort of a weak premise. Character driven, which is why I enjoyed it as much as I did.

I was confused by the lack of scientific evidence to back up their theories. The book itself is interesting in general, but I found myself tuning out when Heather used family stories to fill in the book. I’m frankly confused at the glowing reviews this book has received. Am I missing something?

The part of the book explaining about the concentration camps was a very compelling story. It went a long towards understanding human nature and survival. The second half about his theoretical basis would be of interest to only a limited number of people.

John Scalzi has become one of my favorite writers. His readers are also consistently good. This early book of his escaped my attention. I’m glad I took the time to listen. The author always does so much more than just entertain. His exploration of societal issues makes me stop and pause.
