Story
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

im sorry she had to go through that

and i hope this book helps her continue to heal. i , however feel bad for saying that this was not a write a book story. of course i dont wish that she had worse, but the title is click bait and she did not hate her mother to warrant such a title. yes her mother caused a lot of trauma, but her words dont relay hate. but that is just my opinion. i would not recommend this book, but also wouldnt outwardly tell you not to read it. maybe youll see something i didnt.

Story
Mildred Pierce had gorgeous legs, a way with a skillet, and a bone-deep core of toughness and determination. She used those attributes to survive a divorce in 1940s America with two children and to claw her way out of poverty, becoming a successful businesswoman. But Mildred also had two weaknesses: a yen for shiftless men and an unreasoning devotion to her monstrous daughter.

this was a great story with suspense and a twist. though I loved the book, I think the most memorable moment was when the narrator actually cleared her throat (not part of the story) and it was left in! it didn't bother me and did not take me out of the overall story.
