Story
In and out of hospitals since birth, angelic nine-month-old Morgan Reid finally succumbed to what appeared to be sudden infant death syndrome. Morgan's Texas-born mother, Tanya, a nurse and devoted wife, pulled up stakes with her grieving husband, Jim, and moved on. It was the best way to put the past behind them. Its a well written book. I’m going to say it makes me cringe to hear the narrator change her voice to different characters. Some things were irrelevant to be interjected in this book. Still it was a good listen. I feel bad for the family members left to pick up the pieces of heartbreak and grief.

Sadly a good book. Unfortunately justice wasn’t served. Note to navigate. I’m sure there are reasons to change your voice for different characters but, it sounds stupid. Just my opinion. I am by no means an expert on this subject. Regardless still a overall great listen.

Story
For years, Eddie Lee Sexton ruled his large family like Charles Manson. The depraved patriarch dominated his ragged brood of twelve children mentally, physically, and sexually, and enforced every cruelty imaginable, from vicious beatings to raping his daughters and fathering their children. Finally, in 1992, Sexton's eighteen-year-old daughter Machelle, seeking refuge in a women's shelter, revealed the shocking, sordid details of her father's abuse to authorities. As the law attempted to catch up to Eddie Lee Sexton, he moved his family to a mobile home in western Florida.

A sick and sad story of a dysfunctional family. As sick as their story was still a good story to have read. I had no clue about this family. I only wish the survivors the best in their future.

How one is able to wrap their heads around this massive history of disfunction and misery is beyond me. I think of the south as a part of American history in hospitality and charm. I am truly sorry for those who were in the path of this family’s demise. Justice may have escaped the other guilty family members but not for Alex. How he could continue as he did was enabled by those in that community. He is paying the price for his crimes. Lastly, well stated with the title Swamp Kings association with alligators.

Linda Scarpa had the best toys, the nicest clothes, and a close-knit family. Yet her childhood was far from idyllic. Classmates avoided her; boys wouldn't date her. Eventually she learned why: They were afraid of her father. A made man in the Colombo crime family, Gregory Scarpa, Sr., was a stone-cold killer nicknamed the "Grim Reaper." Unlike most tight-lipped mobsters, Scarpa talked business - and murder - in front of his kids.

Excellent well testament to our nation’s history as many of us had visioned. Hard to believe that our government could be in so deep with the “mafia” and yet still find the law to prosecute. I myself have the upmost respect for this family. May peace be with them.
