Disappointing Narration

First let me say I love this authors writing and have been enjoying the narration up until this book. The female narration in this book series has always been weak on the accent side but passable. in this book neither of the narrators had a Russian accent which defeats the purpose of the whole narration. The tone was in the ballpark but that's it I listen to these types of books just for the accent, a good story is just a bonus at this point.

My question is that did anyone listen to these narrators before they gave them the job or did they go purely off reputation. Don't get me wrong they are great narrators just not for this book If I was not so invested in the story I would have returned it after the first chapter.

If you're going to replace the narrators that are doing a fairly good job, then at least make sure they are better and not worse. It is jarring for a listener who is invested into the characters . This is the type of error that has completely turned me off of series in the past. Narrators can completely save a mediocre or destroy a brilliant one, they are that important. I have completely avoided my favorite book series on audible because listening to that narrator is like nails downs chalkboard.

I encourage everyone to listen to the sample first. I didn't this time because all the previous narrators were decent. I will not be making that mistake again.

Personally, I thought that in order for a book to be classified as inspirational it had to be a Christian based. At best these books should be classified as clean. Nowhere outside of there being a preacher is God really in this book. The narrator grows on you. I say this because the tone of voice is good, but everything else is not. There is no differentiation between characters. Even the kids sound like adults. There is barely an inflection so it is hard to discern emotion. It is almost like listening to someone reading a manual. I generally don't like to be negative, but I can't be positive about these book readings. The story themselves are cute and are a nice middle-of-the-road story. There is no high drama, no real climax, it's just cute stories. Any drama or emotion that could be given by the narrator is not because there is basically no change in her voice. Sometimes narration can make or break a book.

These books are not bad. They are cute. They are predictable. They are not inspirational, not in a God sense or entertainment sense. If you have trouble sleeping this is the book for you because the narration will put you to sleep.. I will continue to listen just to saite my curiosity.

Ok, love the fact I got all the books for one credit. That was a totally awesome deal. Right now I'm on a clean kick so I'm finding it hard to find good stories. For what it is the books in this set are pretty good. The only issue I have is that I dislike stories that the whole story can basically be resolved with one conversation. The endless dialog running in the characters' heads about the issue at hand. Or, talking about the issue endlessly with everyone but the one person that can resolve the issue. That being said that was only the basis for the last book, and side issues for the other books. All in all the books are interesting, engaging, and completely sex free. If you are looking for a non-YA book that will not make your ears burn then this is a good choice. I would just recommend not listening to the last book because it is just a bunch of whining about people being in love with other people even though they are in love with each other. So basically the whole book was a big misunderstanding that kept being interrupted by other people when they finally get the cajones to tell each other that they love each other and the heroine not accepting that the person she loves actually loves her.

The narration is ok not the best but still not bad. So it's an average listen with an average reader.

This is the perfect book for a book hangover. It is short, sweet, and funny. Both of the characters are perfectly imperfect. The heroine is a little spazzy, but who isn't in their own way. I love that they view the other's faults in positive yet interesting ways. It's funny how just getting another person's perspective on what you view as a fault in your own life can actually change how you look at things.

Ok now that the emotional stuff is out of the way. Summary: You meet someone on the phone and have the best conversation ever. It rolls over to expanding your horizons on different levels. Spoiler Alert!!! You kept putting meeting someone because they didn't sound even remotely interesting but they were your true love and if you had just stepped out of your box just once you would have found love sooner.

Moral of the story: Don't be afraid of being different or doing something different it might just change your life for the better. . Love this book

OMG This story is so cute. Its a throwback. The production is awesome with the sound effects to help immerse you into the story. It's a story that can't help but make you smile. I love the fact that it is a story that doesn't have gratuitous graphic sex in it. It's like a perfect little romantic comedy .

I appreciate the storyline and how God is woven into the story. The narration is good and you can clearly tell the difference between the characters and the character voices are consistent. The only thing that bothers me about the way the author finishes her books is that they don't feel complete. I'm sure that the characters will be mentioned in future books but not in a way that will make this story seem complete. She did the same thing with the previous book. The story just ends. You have to make a lot of assumptions and with the way this couple is in this story is, why would I assume they are getting married without the author spelling it out for me.

This is a nice story but if you like your stories tied up with a nice bow at the end, then I would stay away from this author. She does not finish the storyline in any of her books. Even if we are supposed to make assumptions the books end so abruptly that it makes you question if they forgot to put the ending in the book. Overall I liked the story, I just don't like the way the story ends.

The story started off with a good pace and was very cute. After they meet. in person there is more sex than real story. I guess I like more of a build up than we text and talk for a few weeks and the first day we meet we basically dey hump in public and the time we meet we are having sex and in almost every chapter after. I have never skipped so much because I was tired of hearing about the. sex.

I guess all that wouldn't be so bad if it didn't feel like the sex was a distraction from the fact that there is no real story line. I was more interested in what the best friend and the brother was doing and even that was slightly annoying. It's a somewhat cute story that will not cause an emotional investment or make you care about what's going to happen. I forced myself to finish it and I am glad I didn't didn't spend a credit on it. The narration is good and the only reason I finished the book. I will not be listening to the next one.

I love this book. The author is Amazeballs. Her writing calls to me. I love how with each book the characters grow and evolve. Even if it's not their book you can see it small ways.If I can parallel in the book Cleatus learns that he is not in control and to be a little kind. Jennifer learns to stand up for herself. She learns that she is much stronger than she thought. This books is funny, thoughtful and smart.

Chris Brinkley is a wonderful narrator. His nuance with each of the guys voice is remarkable and distinct. One thing that I love about how he narrates is that each brother has a distinct voice. In doing that he also narrates a book completely in that voice so that the story seems consistent and it is comforting that listening to him I know exactly who is speaking without having to be told. I cannot say the same for his counterpart Joy Nash. She is a one trick pony. She can do secondary characters fairly well but no matter what female lead character she reads for they all sound the same. It was jarring to me to hear her give Jen this soft voice in the previous book but not in this one. I think I would have been ok with the strong voice if she had at least started off with the Jen voice from the previous book. I had to get used to it. She has basically ruined the audible books for me. I guess I'll continue to read the books. There are some narrators that when they give a character a voice and that character gets their own book they do narrate the book in that character's voice (Amanda Ronconi) throughout the book. I hate to be mean but by her doing that she has caused slight trauma and now whenever I hear her voice I cringe. So basically every main character sounds like Jessica from the from Truth or Beard. The rate of speech, the tonal quality of the voice, the rate of speech, everything. It makes it seem like every woman in the series is the same woman.

This is a great series of books. If you can make it through Joy's narrations to the loveliness of Chris's narration you will enjoy the story. I just can't anymore. Sorry.

Please tell me that no one is as stupid aa the heroine in this story. I know it's a short story but dang it is the most unrealistic winter story I have ever read. I mean what are the odds of two caves being in the woods that you found in the middle of a blizzard at night with only a jacket on with no sweater on that you can make multiple trips to the car. And you find the second cave and make multiple trips to the car and go back to the orginal cave in 48 min. Yeah that's real realistic. I know there are plot devices and things to move the story forward but if your heroine is to dumb to live what's the point.
