Story
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

It was a great listen. I liked the. narrator and the characters were interesting. The only thing I would have changed is that the ending seemed a bit rushed.

So Boring Not Good, just Bad
Reviewed: 03-07-19
I'm in pain. I hate not finishing books. I am painfully bored. I'm 1/4 of the way through and I hate it. The sister is so awful I just feel enraged listening to the things she's doing; the foster mom is horrible and makes me want to scream. I can't stand the NARRATION - I get WHY she's monotone, but I don't LIKE it. And I hate all the internal dialogue. Maybe if it was a paperback reading it wouldn't bother me, but on audio...it's miserable. I find myself finding ways to avoid listening to it! That's messed up since I am listening to it for FUN! I finished it...and STILL hated it. There is not one thing suspenseful about this novel. It is so incredibly dull how the MC talks to herself all the time. I agree with another reader, I kept waiting for something to happen and when it sort of did, it was like it didn't...like it was an afterthought...oh? that was something? The author set it up for many interesting and potentially suspenseful things to happen, but then..she never returned to it or it just never turned into anything. So, if suspense means you're expecting something and then get nothing, well, I guess it is. I WISH I could get the credit back. Not good Not bad. Awful.

It was complicated at first, but became clearer pretty quickly. Although a teeny bit expected, they were hoped for and the book still offered some surprises. I adored the characters and would love to follow more of their lives, but some magic is simply in the inability to replicate it. I will look for this author and these performers again.

Very thought provoking story. Thought I'd be bored when I realized it really was going to go through every replay...but the story quickly becomes more than about the replay. It's all about the journey and the journey itself is not looping even though the external structure is.

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Einstein and Germany Unexpected
Reviewed: 12-23-16
thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was great fun to hear Einstein and get inside his charm and wit. I also enjoyed the gentle love for country and personal view ie. Germany expressed here when so many opinions are associated only with Nazis and evil. Great blend of reality and fantasy. The intellect raised the supernatural element to a almost believable and distinguished level.
