The story depth and character development of the Spellmonger gets better with each book. Well worth investing time into.

Great content - don't get me wrong. However, most of this sounded familiar very quickly. Dan Carlin is good narrator of his material and this particular reading style, rather than more conversational or rambling people so enjoy, was also enjoyable.

I had low expectations that the galaxy could have a worthy story without Joe and Skippy. The universe created has thankfully enough depth, lore, and races to stand on its own in the new adventure. A more concise and small setting for this story aids in the telling.

Some of the best character development in a scifi/fantasy I've heard. Keeps you hanging but the tension and slow build up pays off.

I have listened to three books in the series. It's just so underwhelming at the end, wish I'd never started.

Loved this instalment. Some nicely paced character development and the action pieces are well rounded.

My 3 stars for performance reflects only the quality of audio and volume balance of recordings. The voice acting was good, and character separation added much to the story.

Enjoyable series. Technical but easy listen with just enough drama and suspense thrown in. Light at 8 hours for a credit but no regrets.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Entertaining and well written. Didn't cover as much ground in the story or have loads interactions with other alien civilisations as some would hope. Felt like a bridging novel to the third instalment and beyond. However, still riveting.

Which character – as performed by R.C. Bray – was your favorite?

Skippy. Love that thing!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The attachment of Bishop and the crew to Skippy (a robot AI) is quite touching. Like a favourite, highly intelligent family pet.
