Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

A lot of wallowing and droning

Had potential, definitely got my attention early, but ultimately keeps itself squarely in a box. Break out a bowl of popcorn and your ivory-tower bingo card and you’ll fill the grid in no time!

Dialogue (writing) was clumsy and hard to listen to. Voice actors did a good job however of bringing it to life as much as possible.

Story
In this Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, historian Barbara Tuchman brings to life the people and events that led up to World War I. This was the last gasp of the Gilded Age, of Kings and Kaisers and Czars, of pointed or plumed hats, colored uniforms, and all the pomp and romance that went along with war. How quickly it all changed...and how horrible it became.

Narration is terrible. Grainy, slurred speech is hard to tolerate. I’m sure the book is academically sound but did not bring this epoch to life. Not a good audiobook.

Some interesting plot developments. Characters are not very likable outside of the main character… listen at 2.5 x speed and it’s not a bad ride.

Feels like a long list of regurgitated feel-good-isms. Don’t get me wrong, they’re great suggestions. But after he tells you to put down your latest “guru” book and just do what he’s saying, he proceeds to vomit a lot of guru-book wisdom in very short order. It’s presented with very little illustrative value and even less intellectual rigor. Give me at least one or the other. This has neither. Don’t expect original thoughts here, but if you just want someone to give you a solid list of conventional wisdom then this will do nicely.
