Story
Nearly a decade after Spain's conquest of Mexico, the future of Christianity on the American continent was very much in doubt. Confronted with a hostile colonial government and Native Americans wary of conversion, the newly-appointed bishop-elect of Mexico wrote to tell the King of Spain that, unless there was a miracle, the continent would be lost.

Great Insights into Our Lady of Guadalupe
Reviewed: 08-30-20
I was particularly impressed with the description of Our Lady's robe and the star constellation charting that appears on it in parallax view, the view that one would have if looking at the stars from Heaven back towards the Earth. For those who have faith no explanation is necessary. For those who do not have faith, no explanation is possible.

Story
America's problem with race has deep roots, with the country's foundation tied to the near extermination of one race of people and the enslavement of another. Racism is truly our nation's original sin. "It's time we right this unacceptable wrong", says best-selling author and leading Christian activist Jim Wallis. Fifty years ago, Wallis was driven away from his faith by a white church that considered dealing with racism to be taboo.

Would you consider the audio edition of America's Original Sin to be better than the print version?
This audio book will give the reader a foundation upon which one can build and grow in knowledge of racial deprivation that has occurred in the U.S.A. over a period of four centuries.

How have millions of American Christians come to measure spiritual progress in terms of their financial status and physical well-being? How has the movement variously called Word of Faith, Health and Wealth, Name It and Claim It, or simply prosperity gospel come to dominate much of our contemporary religious landscape? Kate Bowler's Blessed is the first book to fully explore the origins, unifying themes, and major figures of a burgeoning movement that now claims millions of followers in America.

Story
Though exceptions do exist, the reality is that church in America is failing one life at a time. Somewhere between pathetically predictable and shamefully entertaining, sadly sentimental and rarely authentic, church has become worst of all...godless. Vertical Church points to a new day where God is the seeker, and we are the ones found. In Vertical Church God shows up, and that changes everything.

Best church book I've read in a while
Reviewed: 05-30-14
If you could sum up Vertical Church in three words, what would they be?
James MacDonald really presses every button and rings every bell for anyone who is in church ministry leadership. Everything he said is true and I knew it the moment I heard it. I just had never put it all into words the way he has in the Vertical Church book. Listen to it if you dare and be ready for some inner conversion among those who are intellectually honest about the future of the Christianity in the Western World.
What other book might you compare Vertical Church to and why?
This book has the potential to become a Christian classic so how about "Pilgrim's Progress." This book comes to us at a crossroads in what must be a turn of the tide to church glory or continued fall of the church into the slough of despond.

Story
In Lifesigns, Nouwen explores three elements of what he considered the call of all people: Intimacy - the gospel invitation to communion with God and relationship with others; Fecundity - the exhortation to be open to a fruitful life of both growth and change; Ecstasy - the Gospel wish and promise of Jesus that "your joy may be complete". Nouwen shows how these elements are essential to our movement from the "house of fear" to the "house of love".

This book was used during the August 2011 Regional Deacon Convocation which was held in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Two breakout sessions were held, which were well attended. Dr. Michael W. Higgins, the official estate appointed biographer of Fr. Nouwen was our featured speaker on the this book and related subject matters. I recommend the audiobook for your listening enjoyment.

Story
D’Souza explains that the reason Obama appears to be working to destroy America from within is found, as Obama himself admits, in The Dreams of My Father: a deeply hostile anticolonialism. Instilled in him by his father, this worldview has led President Obama to resent America and everything we stand for. D’Souza masterfully shows how Obama is working to weaken and punish America here and abroad.

This book gives the listener a more international view of what "chip on Obama's shoulder" really looks like. Mr. Obama is an actual African-American. He is not an American Negro. He is unlike the offspring of Negro slavery. He is anti-colonial, and he considers America and its close allies to be colonial exploiters of the Third World, the home of his African ancestors. He wants to bring America down. The voters better wake up before the 2012 Election and make this guy a one-term president before he transforms America into a place where its citizens have to eat cold rice out of a small bowl with their fingers, while waiting for the occasional bucket of raw fish heads from our new Chinese masters.

Story
Instead of the system that the Constitution intended, judges have created a system in which bureaucrats and appointed officials make most of the important policies. While the government claims to be a representative republic, somehow hot-button topics from gay marriage to the allocation of Florida's presidential electors always seem to be decided by unelected judges. What gives them the right to decide such issues? The judges say it's the Constitution.

The U.S. Constitution was written and ratified by the founding fathers of America to be a system of government. The whole misguided notion of it being a living document is specious. This book is well worth the time time it takes to listen.
