"Boundless: Boost Your Brain" by Ben Greenfield falls short for me. The book is filled with specialized tests and supplements that seem cutting-edge but leave me questioning their efficacy and safety, especially since Greenfield, not an MD, relies heavily on anecdotal evidence and his experience as an Ironman athlete. The excessive sidebars and product plugs detract from the content, leading me to abandon it halfway, feeling much of it was a waste of time.

Tulsi Gabbard’s *For Love of Country* is a thoughtful exploration of patriotism, service, and the often tumultuous world of American politics. Approaching this book, I was curious about what unique insights Gabbard might offer compared to other political memoirs. Gabbard has always struck me as level-headed and guided by logic, making me wonder why she chose to align with the Democratic Party, which often seemed at odds with her approach.

Gabbard offers a candid explanation of her political journey, revealing that she initially joined the Democratic Party, inspired by the ideals of JFK. The party, at that time, aligned with her values—championing the common person and striving for a balanced approach to governance. However, she details a growing schism between her beliefs and the party's direction, particularly as it began to increasingly cater to big money interests and embrace what she describes as “woke” ideologies. This shift led her to distance herself from the party, ultimately identifying as an independent.

Interestingly, while Gabbard criticizes both major political parties, her critiques of the Democratic Party are particularly sharp. She delves into what she sees as the party's obsession with power and the way it has drifted from the principles that once attracted her to it. Her insights into the “Democratic machine” are especially pointed, reflecting her disillusionment with its current trajectory.

One of the most compelling aspects of the book is Gabbard’s personal account of her time in Iraq. While she never explicitly names the base, her descriptions suggest she was likely at Joint Base Balad (formerly Anaconda). Her experiences there, shaped by the harsh realities of war, provide a grounded perspective that underscores much of her political philosophy—one that values service and integrity over partisan loyalty.

In *For Love of Country*, Gabbard presents a narrative that is as much about personal growth as it is about politics. Her reflections on the changing landscape of American political life are insightful and thought-provoking, making this book a compelling read for anyone interested in understanding the complexities of modern American politics from a perspective that defies simple categorization.

Dr. Robert Lustig's "Metabolical" is essentially two books within one cover. One part focuses on cell biology, diet, and how these factors influence our overall health and longevity. The other part presents Lustig's vision for addressing world hunger and improving global health.

In the first "book," Lustig excels at explaining cellular biology and the impact of diet on our health. His clear and accessible style, familiar to those who follow his podcasts and YouTube videos, makes complex scientific processes understandable. Midway through reading, I found myself recommending it to friends, impressed by the depth and clarity of his explanations.

However, the second "book" takes a different turn. Lustig shares his recommendations for restructuring global health through changes in pricing policies, government subsidies on agricultural commodities, SNAP programs, and school lunch programs. He infuses this discussion with a healthy dose of political opinion, touching on social justice and climate change, even expressing support for Greta Thunberg. Regardless of your political views, you might find it challenging to stay engaged with chapters that venture beyond Lustig's core expertise. It can feel like listening to a movie star or famous rock star opine on the latest presidential candidate during a concert or award ceremony.

While I give five stars for Lustig's insightful explanations on diet and health, the political overtones diminish the book's overall appeal for me, resulting in a final rating of three stars.

"The Longevity Diet" by Valter Longo intrigued me primarily due to the high regard many podcasters hold for Dr. Longo, having frequently invited him to discuss his work. This admiration is echoed in the nutrition science community, where his research is extensively cited, reflecting the complexity of making informed dietary choices in everyday life. Longo's work stands out for its rigorous and methodical approach, backed by solid statistical analysis. Importantly, he maintains scientific integrity by acknowledging when his findings lack statistical significance, and elucidates the underlying mechanisms of his research when possible. Longo's ability to distill complex concepts into concise, comprehensible conclusions enhances the accessibility of his work. Beyond his scientific contributions, Longo's vibrant personality adds a unique dimension to his research, making "The Longevity Diet" not only informative but also engaging to read.

Bill O'Reilly's "Killing Jesus" stands out for its historical, rather than religious, portrayal of Jesus of Nazareth. Appreciatively, the book presents Jesus as an intellectual rebel, deeply loyal yet boldly challenging Roman authority, offering a fresh perspective that respects Christian traditions without delving into Christian mythology. This approach not only enriches the narrative but also makes it accessible to a broader audience. Additionally, the book serves as a fascinating journey through Roman and Jewish history, providing a vibrant backdrop to Jesus's life and enhancing our understanding of his time. O'Reilly's factual rigor and respectful portrayal invite readers to explore the historical figure of Jesus with an open mind, making "Killing Jesus" a valuable read for those interested in the complexities of history and the profound impact of Jesus's life.

After getting through the first third of this I realized this was not a book that would interest me. But I hung with it just in case it might get more interesting since I had already invested some hours into it. After more reading I figured I had spent so much time with it, I may as well finish it.
Overall it was a sad story about quirky people, but I'm not sure they were so bad that you would make a case study. I'. surprised Audible suggested this book for me.

Mark Morano makes very bold claims and supports them convincingly. He exposes "climate change" for what ot really is and very articulately explains the motivation that the left has for creating it.
