I’m listening to this series a second time around and I’ve found it very engaging! This book was definitely the best so far in terms of the intensity of the story, events that occur and overall pace of the book. Great character development as well. I’m off to listen to Nightfall! And of course, TGR, you can’t go wrong with him narrating a book!

Story
The end has come. The army of the silent ones is sweeping across the land, annihilating towns and cities, slaughtering all they encounter. In a desperate bid to save the lives of uncounted innocents, the allied forces of elf, dwarf, and human must face these savage and seemingly unstoppable warriors. But the silent ones are unlike any enemy the people of Lumnia have faced before - corrupted and made enormously strong by the vile magic of Shinzan. They do not care who is friend or who is foe.

The plot is quite interesting but it's only made better by the excellent narration by Ray Porter! I personally enjoyed the way the plot and character development was done by Scott. There are definitely some characters you love and some that you absolutely despise! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun sci-fi listen.

Infused with magic, shadows and starlight, the powerful godblades were believed to be lost nearly half a millennia ago, when the Godswar ended. Now, however, one has been found by the unlikeliest of wielders: Sampson Gaard, a blind but ambitious prince with something to prove. The only question is whether he controls the blade or the blade him. With an insidious evil lurking in the shadows, the answer may very well determine the fate of all Kingfall.

Pleasant Surprise

I stumbled upon this book from a Facebook ad and judging from the comments it seemed to be a good read. After realizing that the narrator was Timothy Gerard Reynolds, whom I really like, I pulled the trigger. I read/listen to a lot of fantasy and have found that many authors tend to become cliched. David's writing style is definitely original and that was refreshing to me. It is a long book but David does a great job of holding your attention without belaboring the plot. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for something fresh.

Extremely Disappointing
Reviewed: 06-09-20
This book was so disappointing! I actually gave up listening at the 6 hour mark because the entire book is bereft of any subsequent and substantial plot. The entire book is about the Richters upgrades, stats, power ups etc. There is no correlation to the rest of the characters. Even Nick Podehls talents are not able to rescue this! I would not recommend this book!
