It takes guts to be able to confess all and point the way towards solutions so desperately needed in American politics today. Personally, I could never espouse conservative principles but I wish everyone would read this book. I believe Jeff is up for reelection soon but he has chosen to put country above politics.
He would make a great president!

From the start to the end of the 15th chapter I was drawn in but getting more and more depressed. Surely, something good is just around the corner. But I couldn't help it, I had to find out what happens at the end.
I was horrified! I had the distinct feeling that the author had been playing tricks on me,the listener, and I was angry! This was just too much over the top!

Story
The darkness is still, silent. Jackee Maren's heart pounds, reverberating through her body as fear sears her veins. Someone's coming. No way out. This time they will kill me. Her breath is short, her chest burns. Must run. Faster. Faster! Her eyes fly open, her heart still racing with blinding fear. Jackee breathes deeply with relief and stares at the ceiling desperately trying to calm herself. The same dream. Something, someone is watching...and waiting. A tragic car accident leaves beautiful, vibrant Jackee Maren completely paralyzed, able to move only her eyes.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT MISSING FOR CHILDREN
Reviewed: 04-05-17
I read this book from start to finish so obviously I enjoyed it. However, I was puzzled after learning that the children were able to mind-read everything their mother communicated to them but then they were cut from the story until the end when they "saved the day". They were the only characters who could mind-read directly with mom but we know nothing about them. When they were called they promptly went to mom's side and did all that she wished. They were never naughty, nor anything else for that matter. For me, the story picked up when the children came on the scene, finally. Making these children 'real' and with some development and imagination, this could have turned the book into five rather four stars.
Character development for most of the characters could use some improvement. Check out Robert Jordan who was an expert in this area.
The narrator has good voice inflexion but she occasionally mispronounces some common words, and hesitates too long between chapters. I kept moving to resume the timer on my Ipad only to hear her talk again. Annoying.

In this brave and shocking memoir, the author masterfully guides us through the pivotal points of her life, from an abusive upbringing that destroys her self-confidence, to the wreckage of an ill-conceived marriage, and on to a defining moment, full of grace and mercy, which gave her the wings to become the conquering and triumphant phoenix she is today.

FASCINATING AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Reviewed: 02-04-17
This is the story of Kathy who experienced physical and psychological abuse, first by her parents then by her husbands (2). She knew, as we all do, what physical abuse is. But for decades, she was unaware of the terrible psychological abuse she was being subjected to. This lack of awareness was the enemy that she had to overcome in order to gain mastery over herself and reach her goals. After a nervouse breakdown and year-long visits to a therapist, she finally saw “the monster.”
Now, she was able, against all odds, to get the education she had always wanted, to become a registered nurse, and to find a good man who loved her for herself.
I loved the narrator and thought “this is probably what Kathy sounds like.” Anyway, very well done.

PERFECT LOVE
Reviewed: 11-20-16
This is the delightful love story of Killian and Serena. All appears to be going well until one day Serena discovers a secret about herself that will forever change their lives. Further complicating matters is Katja, an evil young woman bent on destruction. These characters represent three different life forms: human, dragon fey and dark fey. But, Killian and Serena are unaware of these differences and this leads to many adventures both good and bad.
The narrator has a very unique, almost peculiar voice which took a little while for me to get used to. She pronounces every word clearly and distinctly so that you never need to rewind and listen again because of something being missed. I soon began to appreciate this uniquenes and found that her voice did suit the story.
If you just want to relax and dream, as I often do, then this is the book for you. I really did enjoy it.

Story
The 25 years between the onset of the French Revolution in 1789 and the Bourbon Restoration after Napoleon in 1814 is an astonishing period in world history. This era shook the foundations of the old world and marked a permanent shift for politics, religion, and society - not just for France, but for all of Europe. An account of the events alone reads like something out of a thrilling novel.

Talk about suspense?!! I clenched my fists, held my breath, and agonised so much so that I just had to bookmark and skip to the last paragraph to see if they made it. I then went back to my bookmarked point and continued to clench my fists and forget to breathe. Daniel York does a fantastic job of narrating! His pronunciation of all those Asian names was impressive. I did stop to eat and sleep at night but other than that, I read this in one sitting. Superb!!!

Story
North Korea is isolated and hungry, bankrupt and belligerent. It is also armed with nuclear weapons. Between 150,000 and 200,000 people are being held in its political prison camps, which have existed twice as long as Stalin’s Soviet gulags and twelve times as long as the Nazi concentration camps. Very few born and raised in these camps have escaped - but Shin Dong-hyuk did.

TRAGEDY
Reviewed: 10-04-14
This is a story of suffering and tragedy, and we should all open our eyes to what is happening to our fellow humans. Unfortunately, the author, Blaine Harden, has little talent for the craft of writing, and absolutely NIL talent for narrating. Granted, it was like pulling teeth to get Shin to open up and tell Harden anything and we are lucky get some semblance of coherence once pen was put to paper. With good editing and a professional narrator, this could have been a best seller and Shin and the author would have gained much needed funds. Having said that, I still recommend you add this to your list of “must reads”. Just be prepared to suffer through (in union with suffering humanity?) the worst narration on the planet.

This story leaves me yawning and my mind wandering. Even the narrator gave up trying to do something with it. All the character voices sound the same. The "My fiancé" line is used ad nauseam.
Victoria, for your information, U.S. $1,000,000.00 equals Can.$ 915,818.20 at today’s rate (August 08, 2014). Not quite at par but close. In this case you would round up, not down to half a million. https://www.google.ca/#q=1%2C000%2C000+canadian+dollars+equals+how+many+u.s.+dollars%3F
