black queer love story

love the story line but I may have to buy the book, the narrator left much wanting. she was terrible with the main character's voice and lacked the ability to portray emotions
also the "rapping" was horrible, the author should stick to fiction writing.

Story
"That book. It was about two women, and they fell in love with each other." And then Lily asked the question that had taken root in her, that was even now unfurling its leaves and demanding to be shown the sun: "Have you ever heard of such a thing?" Seventeen-year-old Lily Hu can't remember exactly when the question took root, but the answer was in full bloom the moment she and Kathleen Miller walked under the flashing neon sign of a lesbian bar called the Telegraph Club. America in 1954 is not a safe place for two girls to fall in love, especially not in Chinatown.

this book was well written, well researched, well performed. my only complaint is the ending. it feels the the author didn't want to put the same level of effort into the of the book and it feels rushed and incomplete

Story
Allison Hale had always played second fiddle. She didn’t win the science fair, have a million friends, or become the world’s best mom. That was her sister, Betsy. However, Ally’s managed to do something her sister couldn’t - connect her family’s failing business to the wealthy Carmichaels through her engagement to their son, Brent. All she has to do is plan the wedding of the century with the hottest wedding planner in town, Megan Kinkaid. How could she have ever guessed that Megan and her zest for life would threaten everything she’d carefully planned?

I really wanted to like this book..I can't tell if it's the characters or narration itself that makes the relationship between the main characters unconvincing. Given its a romance novel that takes away a lot from the story

It’s November 3, 2020, and Emma McMasters has just been elected the 46th president of the United States. She’s facing a divided Congress and nation, allies that no longer trust America, enemies that have been emboldened, and the legacy of destruction left by the last administration. She must rebuild and reestablish trust in government, in the media, and in the electoral system, all the while carrying the mantle of first female president, and along with it, the hopes and dreams of millions of women and little girls who need her to prove that a woman can get the job done.

The promise of the story and the plot were excellent but I couldn't even finish the book because of the terrible dialogue. It was overly verbose and formal between the main characters.. The chemistry between Emma and Palmer was not believable which made it difficult to settle into it.

Story
Sixteen-year-old Sana Kiyohara has too many secrets. Some are small, like how it bothers her when her friends don't invite her to parties. Some are big, like the fact that her father may be having an affair. And then there's the one that she can barely even admit to herself - the one about how she might have a crush on her best friend. When Sana and her family move to California, she begins to wonder if it's finally time for some honesty, especially after she meets Jamie Ramirez.

the narration was amazing. the story was complex. I read reviews about the middle being slow and I disagree. they touch on really complex topics I'm guessing people may want to tune out and get back to the main plot

Story
Mystery writer Bethany Lange wasn't prepared for the twisting emotions that left her breathless the moment she laid eyes on folk singer sensation Ali Hart. Of course she was flat on her back and looking up and backward at the gorgeous singer, but that didn't stop her body and heart from bursting into a kaleidoscope of want, need, and lust. Scared at the intensity of her feelings, Bethany does everything she can to avoid Ali.

I actually really enjoyed the story but the narrator's voice was so distracting. Also some of the dialogue was repetitive and a little simple. The author used the word incredible or fantastic for everything and used the word growl to describe a lot of different actions. It's nice for a very simple read. The premise of the story was way deeper than the actual text
