Story
The world's oldest celebration comes to life in The End of Summer: Thirteen Tales of Halloween, an anthology that honors the darkest and strangest night of the year. Each story is designed to be intrinsically and intimately about Halloween - its traditions, its myths, and its effects - and they run the gamut from horrifying to heartbreaking. Demons are faced, death is defied, and love is tested. And not everyone makes it out alive. The End of Summer has arrived.

Where did they get the Narrator?
Reviewed: 09-15-21
I originally read the book and while not my favorite anthology series, I do like some of the stories. I usually go back and read the stories I enjoy yearly around Halloween. I thought this would be great to get have an audible version.
The Narrator is boring and for lack of a better word Monochrome. His reading often reminds me of TV static. but I also really hate narrator s who just read without emphasis or character voices, so there is some natural bias there. I just feel it just makes everything duller. Putting the lack of emphasis with his voice on characters along with what seems to be his own boredom of reading in general makes for a very annoying book.
the book itself while not great, has very fun stories inside of it including a tribute the the original "Halloween" movie. that one has to be my favorite. while it does not come out and state that is what the story is about it is written in a clever way so that any horror lover immediately see's what characters the story is using. But I am not a huge fan of all the stories. It was an interesting idea but nothing super solid except for a few stories that I enjoyed.

What an interesting life

Mr. Campbell's story makes for an amusing and interesting read. He tends to be both honest and hilarious. but he also really opens up about life and experiences that have really made me appreciate his career and his personality. He is someone who swung for the fences and I believe hit it out of the park in many many ways. even though I have always love his characters, I have gained so much more respect for him and all the amazing roles he has been in.

this is such amazing storytelling experience. The writing is so incredible that it continually keeps you hooked, and it really makes you care about the characters. I can't remember the last time I was so hooked into a book. definitely start with legionnaire to begin with. but this is another great book in the series!!

Mindless Read
Reviewed: 09-14-18
If you are looking for a book that is mindless, Zany (as the review on the title reads) and poorly written, this is the book for you. I bought this in hopes of an interesting, whimsical and funny read. The books explores a man/whatever (they never really explain) male named "monster". He is animal control for the fantasy world. Judy is a normal woman who works at a grocery store. They meet and the story really disintegrates into a mess. The writing is sub par, though the voice actor did a very good job with the material he had to read. Over all, including story, dialogue, etc. I feel like everything could have been expanded beyond what it is. Character Dialogue could be more interesting as well as the attempted humor in the story itself. The Story on the other hand is completely out there, given, this is a story about magical creatures, it feels too thin. The story is almost like butter spread over too much bread. The plot points are like a big blue brick wall, which is noticeable and huge, but don't make any sense if they are in the middle of a desert, if that make sense. A lot happens, but it seems like it is forced and the storyline is so thin as it is, with MANY missing pieces including the "how" and the "why", that it makes the plot points seem less interesting because the story is barely there. The voice actor did and ok job, trying to enforce the humor and the characters. There is really only so much you can do with the story but he made it enjoyable at times. I would not recommend this book if you are looking for an interesting read, I think it is dull and while the humor helps at times, it does not bridge the gap on it's faults in any way shape or form. On a final note, I looked at the other titles the author had written and I was interested at first, each story looked like a great and interesting read. But after this, I will not be picking up any more of his books.

some of the stories are lingering in "how does this relate to the sea?" but others are real gems in sea horror.
