He’s in black ice skates, ripped black jeans, and a yellow and black New Brunswick Wolverines shirt that fills out his vast shoulders, brawn biceps, flat torso, and anything else he has going down underneath his shirt. Reid doesn’t utter a word when he stops within two feet of me, even taller and more intimidating than yesterday because I think being on the ice is his superpower, and he looks like he can do anything on it. My life takes an unexpected turn when I meet Reid "The Reaper" Pierce- the grumpy enforcer for the New Brunswick Wolverines. When the gorgeous hockey bad boy is ...

I couldn't finish the book, so really can't rate the story itself. Narration is so bad that I couldn't continue. Same voice for everyone and mispronounciation. If this was yo be offered with an actual person narrating then I would be glad to try again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this up to the end. Glorifying violence is NEVER ok. If a male hit a female and broke their nose it would be labeled abuse, but it's ok for a woman to do it???? Women complain about double standards all the time and this book shows double standards all over the place at the end. I read for enjoyment but am left with distaste in my mouth for the female lead. She did not become a strong woman she became a very selfish witch.

I love Jayne Ann Krentz but, while well written, this leaves me angry. The female protagonist always assumes she know best. The male lead is a hard man for very obvious reasons but she just steam rolls over him pushing her own thoughts and agenda on what is right and not considering his actual feelings ( and valid reasoning) at all. Not sure if it's the portrayal of her by the narrator but she comes off as holier than thou and a know it all.
Having said that, it is very well written to elicit such as strong reaction in me. (I am angry on his behalf).

What did you love best about Sweet Talk: A Novel?
Classic Julie Garwood. I love her stories and writing style.
What didn’t you like about Angela Dawe’s performance?
I don't like the inflection at the end of every sentence. I almost gave up listening because it was very annoying. I kept listening because I had read the story and LOVED it.
Any additional comments?
If you haven't read the book and the narration discourages you from listening then buy the book and read it!

Hate Ally's Attitude
Reviewed: 12-13-14
Would you listen to Rock Chick Revolution again? Why?
This is my second listen to this book because I forgot how much I hated Ally's attitude. In life I'd never have anything to do with a person who didn't care what other people thought. Ally makes decisions that affect Ren without talking to him and being willing to work things out. All her excuses are "I'm Ally Knightengale" or being a "Rock Chick". Sorry that doesn't give anyone an excuse for being so self absorbed
What was most disappointing about Kristen Ashley’s story?
Ally!!! I would have loved the story with Ally having a better personality. She could still have been a strong personality without being such a witch!! I have enjoyed all the rest of Kristen Ashley's stories
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No because I had to keep stopping because of getting so annoyed with Ally's holier than thou attitude. She expects everyone else to always bow to her wants without any return in understanding them.

Story
Kate Lamonica isn't Koti James' type. Too small. Too dark. And heaps too much work. So it's an easy bet that he can be her friend for six weeks without making a move on her, no matter what his mates would have said. Kate can't believe she's made the bet at all. New Zealand had seemed like the perfect escape from the stalker who'd threatened first her peace of mind and then her life. She certainly doesn't need any more trouble. Why on earth has she agreed to spend time with a Maori rugby player who's far too handsome and charming for his own good - and knows it?

Hated it Because of a Witchy female lead
Reviewed: 08-23-14
What would have made Just Good Friends better?
A female that was not a witch with a capital B. I do not enjoy or relate to a female that has to be nasty to get her point across. Any time Kate didn't get her way she was nasty and derogatory to Koti. Everything was always Koti's fault and Kate was always jumping to conclusions about things and then brushing it off with an apology (which when it really counted she wouldn't listen to from him). I could not ever feel like she was the woman for Koti.
What could Rosalind James have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Make the female an actual likable character. The only reason I gave this 3 stars is because her writing was very good and I enjoyed the history in the book.
Any additional comments?
It seems like the trend in romance books is for the females to be nasty pieces of work. This does not do it for me at all. If I had a friend dating someone like that I'd tell them to kick her to the curb and find someone nice. There are plenty of ways for a female to be strong with out being a jerk! We've gone from the extreme of the man being a jerk to the female being a jerk and emasculating the male. Just my opinion

With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits. Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses.

Katherine has to be one of the best narrators that I have ever heard. She had great accents and change of voice for all characters. During all parts of the book she actually made me feel like I was there.

Would you try another book from Christine Warren and/or Kate Reading?
No to the author but yes to the narrator.
Has Hungry Like a Wolf turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I love the genre but not the author. I will not be listening to anymore in this series. There was way to much anger for me to enjoy the book.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hungry Like a Wolf?
I would have advised the author to tone down on the angry outbursts of the heroine.
Any additional comments?
I love paranorma romance and friction between the main characters but this was way overboard. The writing itself was well done and if you gage a book but how it makes you feel then it was successful BUT I don't read romances to be left feeling angry. The heroine was a truly awful character that I could in no way relate to. I love a strong female lead but I read/listen to shifter romances partly because I love the alpha males not a female that can walk all overtop of them. I couldn't listen past about the 7th chapter and then even skipping to the end I was still left angry.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I don't think there was any way to make this story enjoyable. There is no way to identify with the heroine of the story, she is spoiled, ditzy and always insists on her own way. This is one time when I didn't want the two characters to get together she was so horrid. I don't see any man putting up with a female like that!! There were definately funny parts and the story line was good but horrible female character.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Narrator's female voice very grating.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from To Die For?
The scene's themselves were fine just horrid interaction between the females and the hero. The also way to make this better would have been to make the heroine a decent person.
Any additional comments?
It should also be pointed out that this story is told in the first person for those of us that don't enjoy a story written in the first person.
